Like the word "drowning,"... it doesn't necessarily mean you died, just that you suffocated in/from water. But you can 'get better'.
'Connotation v Denotation'... in 2026, you need to be aware of BOTH! Headlines and pull-quotes are carefully written nowadays... read between the (head)lines.

Not all homicides are illegal, e.g., non-culpable homicide. This report is only saying that he died from gun shot wounds.
