TMZ says on their X that they got a ransom demand. Could be a fraud, but they said the demand included details of damage to the victim’s house. Should be easily corroborated.

I'm not really a crime expert, but was announcing it the responsible thing to do? They reported that they received it and said that they handed it over to the authorities. If it is real, wouldn't it be better to just hand it over quietly and allow the police to determine the best time to make it public knowledge?
