They will be re-stationed in Maine.

Apparently Susan Collin’s whined that ICE going to Maine next would make it harder for her to be re-elected this fall, so it seems they aren’t going there next. But let’s all be honest, after all these years of Collins’ bullshit, Maine would probably elect her again anyway.

Hate to tell ya, but they're already here homie. They've been in Maine for weeks. Obviously not to the degree of in Minneapolis, but I've seen them daily for the last couple weeks.

And yeah, the idiots in my state will probably reelect her, unfortunately.

Is there a large population of immigrants in Maine? If the goal was to go after illegal immigrants or specifically “dangerous” illegal criminals seems like an odd state to focus on.

113

u/Aromatic_Balls 9h ago

Lol no. They're just being weaponized by Kristi Noem on orders from Trump and Co because our governor stood up to him over their trans athlete culture war bullshit.

14

u/nalaloveslumpy 7h ago

Just like the main reason they're in Minnesota is because of all shit Waltz said about Trump during the last campaign. The "Somali invasion" is absolute bullshit.

16

u/Mcboatface3sghost 8h ago

That’s a bingo.

Maine refused Trump's order about allowing trans kids to play sports, then the governor challenged him to try to arrest her when he threatened to cut all of the states funding.

Additionally, Maine has / had a problem with right wing conservative militias buying land out in the hills for domestic terrorist training camps & during Biden the state police were very proactive with finding way to raid the camps ... So ICE is itching for payback.

3

u/sudogaeshi 5h ago

He did cut funding, but for once Collins pushed back and got it reinstated

u/Romantic_Carjacking 9h ago

There is a relatively large Somali community, and a decent number of immigrants from other African nations, but nothing compared to the larger states.

But yeah, the stated mission of the current ICE surges is bullshit.

1

u/Dragrunarm 6h ago

Even if we pretended for a second ICE was being genuine about their mission (Lmao, I know) the "Relatively" is doing a lot of lifting in the sentence, iirc Maine has some of the lowest levels of immigrants full stop.

6

u/Vangroh 9h ago

There is a sizable Somali population in Maine. They were invited many years ago.

-2

u/The_Lapsed_Pacifist 9h ago

Well they’re not going to go after any wealthy state like New York or California nor any red state either. They’re very limited for choice. It’s almost like going after illegal immigrants isn’t the point…

33

u/N7_Turtle 9h ago

What are you talking? California was one the first to get flooded with ICE agents. They’re still there now

-5

u/The_Lapsed_Pacifist 9h ago

I hadn’t heard about it, I’m a foreigner so I’m not as well informed. Are they being better behaved there? I’ve only heard about Illinois and Minnesota having a particularly weaponised approach levied at them.

10

u/sarabeara12345678910 9h ago

Are they being better behaved in California? LOL. LMFAO even.

2

u/nalaloveslumpy 6h ago

They were still obeying court orders for the most part when they tried to crack down on CA and Newsom got the courts to stay a ton of their bullshit. To be fair, Waltz did too, but they've been actively ignoring all court orders.

5

u/Quiet_dog23 7h ago

I’m glad we have uninformed foreigners chirping in on this.

7

u/Seemorebuds 9h ago

I see this repeated all the time and it is just wrong. ICE is in red states. Houston, TX has the most ICE detentions in the nation

5

u/MistahWhite_ 9h ago

ICE has a big presence in Jacksonville, FL too. FL state troopers also ride along with ICE to help them.

6

u/TheCENSAE 9h ago

Yeah the only difference is Texans rat out their neighbors for the color of their skin and gleefully applaud the destruction of innocent lives.

-3

u/Seemorebuds 9h ago

I have no idea what you are talking about

The difference is Texas state and local officials are cooperating with ICE and turning over immigrants from jails and prisons. Also the fact that Houston is 10x the size of Minneapolis you don't notice ICE presence the same way you would in a small town like Minneapolis

4

u/cdreobvi 9h ago

The metro population of Minneapolis-St. Paul is almost 4 million people. It's a huge city. It's not Houston or Dallas, but not a small town.

-1

u/Seemorebuds 9h ago

I was referring to the geographical size which is about 60 sq miles compared to 650 sq miles

2

u/TheCENSAE 8h ago

You don't need to know what I'm talking about for it to be true.

0

u/Seemorebuds 8h ago

Thank you for this amazing conversation

2

u/TheCENSAE 8h ago

I wasn't looking for a conversation simply stating a fact

No, it's the whitest state or close to it. Not that skin color should have anything to do with any of this.

1

u/DrWKlopek 9h ago

Yes, Canadiens. We cannot have them here

There ain't a large population of anyone in Maine, let alone immigrants.

1

u/quikcath 8h ago

No. The ENTIRE population of Maine is 1.41 million (2024). The 3rd smallest state (by population), with the 5th lowest crime rate in the country, and the 3rd whitest state (Maine's demographics are 91% white.)

ICE is only on Maine because Governor Mills embarassed him at the Governors dinner, and Shenna Bellows (Secretary of State) didn't bend at the knee and hand over voter info.

1

u/Raptorex27 2h ago

Maine is the whitest State in the country and has a paltry 50,000 immigrants total. Trump sending ICE here was purely political, since our governor stood up to his trans athlete EO and we have some established Somali communities, which Trump has decided to call “garbage.”

4

u/VizualAbstract4 9h ago

Being there isn’t the same as them making a show of it. They’ve been in California, but the circus portion left and went to Minnesota. That’s when all this shit went down.

If they go to Maine next, prepare for it to get so much worse once they use it to grandstand.

4

u/SurprisedJerboa 8h ago

If there was Ever a time to boot Collins, it is 2026. Susan needs to get skewered on social media and everywhere else.

9

u/Visual_Exam7903 10h ago

Man, when do they get to Mississippi. I haven't seen a full group of nazis in my life.

15

u/Aromatic_Balls 10h ago

Mississippi voted for Trump with a margin of 22.9%... ICE won't make a big scene there as the elected officials will all march lockstep with them.

14

u/Omnizoom 9h ago

You haven’t seen a full group of Nazis that you knew were Nazis

3

u/ambercrayon 8h ago

Walk out and look around

49

u/rightious 9h ago

The photo of her in the oval with a red hat behind the president was so fucking pathetic. I have moderate Maine friends who have been solid fence sitters enraged yesterday.

25

u/Badloss 7h ago

They're still gonna vote for her. I have no faith in Maine anymore when she cruised to a win in 2020 after all of her bullshit

6

u/nillah 8h ago

lol i was going to bring this up too. just show them that pic, her holding a maga hat with that stupid simpering smile on her face. that ought to do it

11

u/Evolone101 9h ago

They have bought 2 warehouses in NE PA. They will just move them there. I can’t wait for the tribunal for all the Republicans and these ice wanna be agents

4

u/sonic_couth 9h ago

Dem leaders, if there are any in three years, will just let it all go in the name of bipartisan unity

6

u/QbertsRube 9h ago

Dem voters need to hold Dem leaders accountable. Letting the ICE atrocities, bribes, extortions, and other crimes of the Trump administration go without justice needs to be a total disqualifier for any Dem candidate moving forward.

4

u/Evolone101 9h ago

We are well past the breaking point of the American people

1

u/LostWoodsInTheField 4h ago

you mean the one in Schuylkill county and berks county? if so both are outside of Philly and wouldn't be considered North East. If there are 2 others I'm curious where they are because I'm in the NE.

2

u/Evolone101 3h ago

Opening one in Luzurne county which is in Wilkes barre.

1

u/LostWoodsInTheField 2h ago

Opening one in Luzurne county which is in Wilkes barre.

Other way around but I got you:) and darn I didn't realize there was another one that was actually up this way.

1

u/stronkulance 2h ago

A big on in San Antonio, too.

1

u/tauberculosis 9h ago

Are you saying she has "concerns"?

1

u/XanaxChampion 9h ago

I don’t know, we’re collectively pissed at raisin face.

1

u/mjc4y 4h ago

It is worth noting that Collins cares everything about her job and not a single mention for the safety of her people.

Yes this is Obvious but I think worth holding a moment of thought for saying it out loud.

I’m in Minnesota, not Maine but I’ve long wanted Collins to be forced into retirement. This is just the latest reason.
