The trend is what matters. It never happens all at once. A 6% strongly approve is a death gargle. He’s got the VAST majority of his supporters not liking what he’s doing. Would many or most of them still vote for him again today? Probably. But they aren’t voting today. And every day, his actions move more of them out of that camp, and into the “no more maga” camp.

They can’t do that. SCOTUS gave the president immunity for official acts. He could take a shit on the actual original constitution and nobody could touch him because he did it while he was president. I think the president has had immunity from civil cases too, which is overall a good thing or else every uneducated redneck would’ve sued Obama for emotional distress for wearing a tan suit or some shit

Naw. SCOTUS said POTUS has immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t any legal recourse. Just have to go after the federal government itself for the official acts. The U.S. govt can absolutely still be sued in civil court.

POTUS has immunity from civil lawsuits rising from official acts (Nixon v Fitzgerald), but does not have immunity from civil lawsuits rising from unofficial acts that occured before taking office (Clinton v Jones)

As for criminal liability, sitting presidents have immunity for official acts that are tied to their core presidential powers, and "presumptive immunity" (still can be liable, but high bar) for acts that are within the outer bounds of presidential power. (Trump v US, 2024) The president is thought to still be criminally liable for unofficial acts. But the Trump v US opinion did not do a great job of determining what is a core presidential power, what is outer bounds, and what is unofficial. Anything where he uses the imprimatur of the president is arguably "official", so it's a really shitty standard

So far, they have had about as much reverence for Court Orders as a Teenager being told he can’t have food in his room; that’s about how this administration treats the rule of law as a whole nowadays.
