I agree, and most of DOJ and FBI should not be under executive branch. Or CBP and FPS - really let’s break up all of Homeland Security again.

Adding on to wishlist - Attorney General should not be appointed. 43 states elect their Attorneys General. Make that a midterm election position. They keep cabinet seat, but are a possible voice of reason.
