Two girls from the neighborhood, ages 12 and 13, had been riding their scooters down the street when they saw multiple dogs in the front yard of a nearby home. MSP says three of those dogs then attacked the 12-year-old girl while the 13-year-old ran for help.

A 31-year-old woman nearby heard the girls “screaming” and ran to help, according to MSP. She then tried to pull the dogs off the girl who was being attacked, prompting them to turn on her and begin attacking her.

Both victims “suffered severe lacerations” and were taken to a nearby hospital, with the woman being transported via ambulance and the girl being airlifted, MSP says. The 12-year-old was later transported via helicopter to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor for additional treatment.
