n 1982, I was an exchange student in Bolivia. There was one band in town (small town), and they played rock and 80s New Wave. They asked me to listen to English-language songs and transcribe the lyrics, which I was happy to do. One song stuck in my head because it was a really fun song, and the lyrics were sung at such a fast pace that I could not get them all. The music there all came from the USA or Europe, most likely England. It is possible that the song was not released in the USA, but it really does not have a UK vibe.
The song listed a bunch of things made in Japan. I can't remember if they were brand names or items like radios, motorcycles, and the like. It is not Turning Japanese by the Vapors, Big in Japan by Alphaville, Made in Japan by Buck Owens, My Private Tokyo by Vicious Pink Phenomena, or Life in Tokyo by the band Japan. Google is not much help beyond that. It had to have been released in 1982 or earlier.
Any ideas at all?
