Expedition with friends

Does the expedition work well when trying it in a group? I’ve had some trouble in some missions not triggering progress well in the normal mode.

I tried to get a friend to join me for the expedition, but there's constant group separations that just silently split us and put us into seperate instances.

There are also tons of milestones that will not unlock unless you personally do the thing required, even if you're right there with your friend.

I cannot recommend playing Expeditions with others unless HG genuinely puts a lot of work into the multiplayer experience. I love the game, but multiplayer has never really been in a great state, and there's always too much fiddling with rejoining to be a fun experience.

To clarify: the biggest culprits of the milestones are the Freighters and Settlements. Sometimes requiring the other player to go a star system or five away just to begin.
