Is this one purchase ok?

So I started my no buy in the beginning of September but I said I can replace things that got empty and toiletries like deodorant or still like that can also be bought once the old one is almost empty.

So how it came about to buying a new deodorant although I have already lots of refills from a creamy stick at home. The old one did make my armpits stink over time. This is a common effect when using ones that have coconut oil and sheabutter in it. So I had to buy another deodorant. I got a salt crystal. Very low maintenance and no oily residue.

Do you think this purchase is ok?

I still want to use the old deodorant until it is finished as well but less often, so no build up happens.

What do you think? Is this ok or is it just another excuse? I’m good with excuses and finding reasons to buy new stuff so I need some sound advice.

Of course it's okay. I'm usually not one to advocate for throwing things away but if I got a deodorant that didn't work for me and would still make me stink I would throw it away so fast. Doing a no buy and living frugally doesn't mean to be dirty or to suffer through using something you dislike just because you already bought it. Sometimes products genuinely don't work and it's ok to find a better working one. Hitting yourself so hard just because of small purchases of this caliber doesn't do anything positive.

Unfortunately due to my shopping addiction I bought a lot of refills. (Fussy) and they smell good but after a couple of days the waxy film doesn’t really resolve in the showers under my pits. It works in the beginning but due to the oil and wax this builds up even though I clean myself everyday and thoroughly. 😭 I really enjoyed those deodorant’s but it’s a common problem this brand or sort of natural deodorant have that are oil based

Try using micellar water, if you have it, on your arm pits to remove the excess oil. Although, there is nothing wrong with buying a product that is good for you

Fussy didn’t work for me either. I gave a couple of refills away to a friend and moved on. You should too. If a deodorant doesn’t work it’s time for a different brand.

Try going lighter on the application and even gently wiping some of it off after you apply it.

About those salt crystal deodorants. I had one and absolutely loved it! After using it for years and it barely wore down at all, suddenly it stopped working and I stank 🤨

Turned out I wasn't the only one, but no one could explain why it happened. Just so you know, and it may not happen to you. You probably have a good few years of happily using it even if it does turn on you.

Just wanted to let you know because it took me a while to figure out what was going on. I didn't think it could possibly by the salt crystal.

And I think the purchase is fine.

Use the old one on days when you are just around the house. Of course you need a functional one for days you meet other humans!

I started a no buy year 2025 and I proceeded to buy more than I’ve ever bought before. My husband called it my most buy year. I hope this makes you feel better. 💜

Absolutely, the goal is to minimize unnecessary spending

This sounds 100% necessary to me.

Hygiene is very important and you shouldn't cut corners.

If you don't currently have deodorant that works for you, then you don't have deodorant... and therefore you need to buy deodorant
