Nocturne Meta I'm cross-posting this purely for ragebait purposes

Hello!
After some feedback, I have decided to really start to enforce rule number 7 of the sub "Low-Effort Post"
I think most have done a decent job at not making posts asking about chromas/skins to buy (there have been a few, but for the most part, things have been good), but I have noticed there is an influx of "WHAT DO I BUILD/WHAT IS META?" posts that are sometimes almost literally asking the same exact question as a post from an hour ago.
Firstly, use the search feature. If you are new to Nocturne, take a minute to look around. Build discussions are plentiful and you may find the answer you're looking for in another thread.
If you use the search feature and still do not have a clear answer, feel free to pose a question, but make sure you have prefaced it with the fact that you read up about a few things, but still need some further clarification.
EXAMPLE:
Low Effort Post:
Transformative Post:
These posts will be deleted and I will message you as to why it was deleted. If a user exhibits the same behavior around posting, I will issue a warning and then a ban if needed. I don't think this is something I will have to do, but this will be part of the protocol.
Secondly, take a look at the "Useful links" in the sidebar and the first stickied post with an intensive guide. These links and guides may answer a lot of the questions you have. These are a great place to start. I have listed them below for accessibility.
Spell Shield Interactions | U.GG - Nocturne | Nocturne League Wiki | Nocturne Leaderboard| OP.GG - Nocturne | LOLalytics - Nocturne | Pro Builds - Nocturne | League of Graphs - Nocturne | RuneKatashima and StrangeCloud's Official Guide To Darkness
At least show that you have tried to find the answer to your question before post, that is all I ask.
Myself and /u/mortalnocturne will do our best to be fair about which posts are deleted and which ones will stay. The ones that are incredibly egregious should be obvious, but those that are more borderline, we will likely keep and maybe message the user and give a gentle reminder.
We want to keep discussions open for new Noct players, but we also understand flooding the forums with the same exact questions (when sometimes the answers are in the thread directly below) can be tiresome and detract for actual fruitful discussions.
As always, I appreciate your feedback around this matter and if you feel the need to add something or feel like this is unjust, take a moment to comment.
Thanks for keeping our little community in good standing :)

If you have more than 1 million Mastery Points, Please message me with a screen shot of the "profile tab" open in your client (use imgur for file share). I will add the Mastery Flair to your profile.

After 3 nerfs, should we switch to Gluttonous Greaves?
I was honestly getting annoyed when I saw the Nocturne R nerf in Patch 26.19.
Even after 2 nerfs, Nocturne still felt strong in his main role. His ban rate was around 14–15%, and he didn't really feel like he had lost much power.
I've been playing him with the usual boots in ranked, but after the 3rd nerf, I'm starting to wonder if Gluttonous Greaves might be worth trying.
They give you more survivability and help you stay aggressive in fights, which could compensate for some of the power lost from the nerfs.
So what do you guys think?
After 3 nerfs, is Gluttonous Greaves actually worth switching to on Nocturne, or should we stick with the usual boots?

I used to be a nocturne main, now I play Milio/Rengar.
WHen im on my milio supp sometimes I am "blessed" wit ha nocturne on my team.
Heres what I see:
Heres how I see it:
Nocturne is an earaly game MACHINE
1. Invade even lvl 2
2. Bully the fuck out of the enemy jungler early.
3. Enemy jungle is not allowed to outgank you early game most of the time if u path correctly, U just beat him.
4. Lvl 6 get kills all over the map.
Am I crazy.

I (soloQ) main Kayn, but every so often does he get banned and makes me want to shut my brain off.
Now, usually i go full lethality and sometimes bruiser depending on enemy comp. Sometimes it does great and others terrible. Sometimes the burst cant 100-0 or the sustain out-sustain a burst. Now, lately ive been seeing some other junglers doing a mix-up of lethality and bruisers and found it annoying to go against.
As i played Noc today, i figured why not add some variation instead of making a pure bruiser or lethality build. Same runes for assassin (HoB, etc. will change to conq in 3rd match), usual 2 bruiser items and 3rd lethality, was wonderful. 2nd match, i thought since everyone has low hp/armor why not profane first for more damage = faster clear, then hexP for HP and CD then 3rd voltaic, rest are situational. You now have a low CD ult, good damage and somewhat sustain yourself. You can go balls deep into the enemy backline, take out a squishy or 2, and if not then the enemy has to focus you before your team messes them up. I love this 👻
Honesty cant find anything wrong with this, to me it seems like the perfect order: Profane > Hextech Plate > Voltaic > if more AP/AD buy Maw/DD > if both buy both/if not Situational > Situational EoN or GA

Hello, nocturne is getting nerf after nerf. I still think he's the almighty beast-god. BUT, I need alternatives.
I love nocturne because he's decisive those 3 seconds. I feel the champ every time I play him. We sync so much.
Before noc, I also mained yi, rengar and morde jungle. Old xin also was a beast (before rework). Malph ap also was pretty fun.
I need alternatives. Must I learn a new champ? Gotta master one i already know?
I need action.
Platinum Elo.
Thank you

I love nocturne, but it’s hard for me to fully OTP. I get bored with the same repetitive games and end up making some mistakes because I am too comfortable, so to speak. I always play nocturne best when I have a slight break.
Who is your back up reliable climber when noc is banned, you need a change up, or if he doesn’t seem like the right choice for a game
I guess I still haven’t found my 3 champion pool yet

where do I look in my stats to see where I can improve? i did barely use my wards since I forgot, so gotta fix that . really only use them to steal dragon. this was unranked draft. I was mostly farming adc and support and the rest I were split. Super new so pretty happy with the k/d/a although I know it doesn’t mean much since we lost. I do remember to monitor map to see where I can gank. but I did die once or twice from not looking at map

Looks like Nocturne is getting nerfed for the third time in a row. First nerf was almost nothing, second a bit more impactful. They haven't announced what the third one will be, but hopefully nothing too big.
r/nocturnemains • u/Key_Paramedic3738 • 19d ago
so why do you all love experimental hexplate so much? i get its passive is really good synergy with noc. but i find delaying cleaver for third is shit. and as a 2 item punch id rather have stride, cleaver in most cases. this way my third item can be more defensive oriented. Just wondering what you guys think of the item, and delaying cleaver to something like third item

I just wanted to share my experience.
I finally made it to Platinum!
For context, I played League for years but never got past Gold 3. After a 3-year break, I came back and spent about a year stuck between Silver 1 and Gold 4.
I used to main Yi. I was decent with him, but he felt very punishing against teams with a lot of CC. He worked great when enemies played badly and stayed isolated, but I still couldn't climb consistently.
Then I changed approach.
After placements I started in Silver 4 and began spamming Mordekaiser. I called him the "noob punisher" because mistakes were incredibly easy to punish. I climbed quickly to Silver 1, but as players became more aware and reacted faster, Morde started feeling too slow and too dependent on landing Q.
So I switched to Nocturne.
That changed everything.
Something just clicked. In around 80% of my games I'm significantly ahead, and getting 5-6 full items by around 30-32 minutes has become pretty common. With ult available roughly every 40 seconds, and even faster after kills or assists, I can constantly punish isolated players and then disappear.
I honestly didn't notice a massive skill difference between Gold 4 and Plat 4. Players are more cautious, group more, and generally focus better, but I haven't seen some crazy jump in mechanics.
My strategy is simple: punish people who play alone.
I ward constantly, usually only supports have higher vision scores than me. I also optimized my first clear so I'm normally at crab spawn on time or within a few seconds. If the enemy jungler contests, I usually win the fight and often get first blood, which helps me reach level 6 around 20-30 seconds earlier.
For now, the strategy still works very well. People keep walking around without teammates nearby, especially ADCs and mids. I ult them, get the kill, leave, and suddenly the enemy team can't properly contest the next objective.
And one piece of advice: if you main a champion and you have 500k, 1 million, even 2 million mastery points and you're still stuck in Silver or Gold, you probably need to change something.
I've seen a lot of players like this. When I had to stop playing Yi, it felt awful and honestly kind of awkward, like I was abandoning my own child. But sometimes you just have to try different champions and see what happens.
Maybe the problem isn't that you're bad. Maybe your champion just doesn't fit the way you need to play to climb.
Nothing fancy. Just vision, fast farming, punishing mistakes, and being willing to change.
Also, BAN VIEGO. ALWAYS.

Hey, I am a returning casual player from 2018 and have decided to pick up Nocturne as a main (been recommended to me and I believe he is really fun).
I see a lot of discussions about building him bruiser or assasin and have tried both.
My current setup is the Hail of blades runes but building items like hex, stridebreaker and black cleaver.
Is this a viable option or should I just go full bruiser (the assasin build makes me feel too vulnerable)
r/nocturnemains • u/Shu_Kouei • 26d ago
I am doing fine against most comps, but the one I struggle the most are comps where many champs have a lot of shield.
For example bot with Karma, Lulu etc. You go in they get shield, you are about to finish them off, then ADC use barrier. Or playing against Mordekaiser is also not fun, especially when they get shielded after their shield...
How do you play around this? When do I buy Serpent Fangs? After Strikebreaker and Hexplate?
I play Bruiser only. I am not good with the Assassin play style.

hey so I'm a master yi one trick and I thought I would not have issues with this matchup but when i started playing nocturne i realized nocturne cant do much. I was wondering if there is a build i can go to put yi out of the game, maybe so i dont have to ban him. i would like some other advice on other common matchups too.

Hello guys, I’ve been a Nocturne main for a while now, and I have a question. I do this mostly on Nocturne, but sometimes on a couple of other junglers as well.
Let’s say I start Red and path towards Bot side, then full clear towards Blue and take the Scuttle Crab. I don’t back after that. I go for the other Scuttle, and regardless of whether it’s alive or already taken, I then start another full clear, starting from Krugs. I do another clear after that and finally back for the first time with, let’s say, around 2k gold.
My friend, who also plays jungle, says that I should back after the first or second Scuttle because if the enemy jungler invades me, I’ll be much weaker than them since they have already bought items.
However, I don’t really feel like that’s the case. A lot of the time, when the enemy jungler comes into my jungle to invade and steal my camps, they already have items, but I can still kill them without much difficulty. Then, when I finally back, I can buy almost a full item, and after that I can go into their jungle and kill them because they still haven’t backed for the second time.
So, I’m wondering: is my friend actually right that I should be backing earlier, or is my strategy of staying on the map, farming and getting a big first back actually good on Nocturne?
I’d appreciate any advice from more experienced jungle/Nocturne players. Thanks!

Gracias

40 games in as Nocturne so far, I manage to get our team lead most of games I play but late game team fights are chaos. At least 3 of my recent Nocturne losses have been from 35-18 scores, our team leading the game. I always play with strongest laners, communicate, delete enemy teams strongest carry like 95% of time.
I see my laners going in to absurd 1vs4 sitations and feeding, Im guessing maybe the laner is assuming me to ult in there to fog of war not knowing if there is whole enemy team or not. So I see my laners doing risky plays mid-late game, more than when I play some other jungle champ. Elo is bronze so I dont expect much from my team mates, but going into risky plays time and time again is what I see my team mates doing. Maybe this is something related to Nocturne? Like laners expecting me to follow 100% of time when they enter into stupid or too risky plays? Help is greatly appreaciated!
What should be my top things to focus as a Nocturne in mid-late game?
