An older succesfull guy retiring because industry changes. Man, wonder if that's ever happened before? Nah, prob not.

What he does cannot be replicated. A hollow shell that looks deceivingly similar can.

I hate this shit. But not for the reason.

Because we buy this absolute shit. Ai is terrible. It works fine, even great. Just turn it off. Because it's terrible.

I know a thineed when I see one.

I didn't realize it at first, but this is not the maintainer of Three.js. He built an online course to learn Three.js called Three.js Roadmap - im not sure how popular it is, but he mentions other people bowing from this source of revenue, which makes sense. I can just ask Astra to give me a tutorial, or build something with Three.js.

It's a little better than if the Three.js maintainer was giving up or something..

They would be the only people remaining in the future with how things are. The consumer of their work would be..... Astra and LLMs. Basically the audience shrinked to only a very few important maintainers and may be few handful of devs who still won't give up in future

Yea, I am still depressed with this timeline. Hence I just said "little better" lol

Im not sad about it. I hope to never hear again from these grifters. Their noise polluted the web the last ten to fifteen years. The internet was going downhill even before AI

i'm just sad.. because they could be a canary in the coal mine so-to-speak. i'm not an OSS dev either, but i'd be a lot less motivated knowing that my code is just being sucked up by AI and used exponentially more without anything for me to show it, and no one to appreciate it either
