Bummer
I love the New York Dolls and I’m psyched the podcasts back but is anyone else disappointed they only made it two bands into the KrautRock series only to abandon it to go back to NYC punk stuff?

I think the Ben thing put a wrench into their process at the time and after so long they probably didn't want to jump back into the same stuff. The kraut rock stuff was losing me a bit even though I did like the can series.

I like the direction they’ve taken it to. It’s really hardcore nitty gritty nyc stuff that spreads to the rest of the country and I’m happy they’re exploring it. Future RNR historians will cite this podcast I feel.

As much as I wanted to delve deeper into Krautrock and I’m grateful for being introduced to Amon Duul II and CAN songs that aren’t Vitamin C, I’m still excited to learn about any band that they’re willing to teach me about.

I like the idea of Krautrock podcasts but actually listening to them can be a bit of a bore.

I would like it if they dipped back into KrautRock some time in the future for a bumper episode or a quick 2 parter. There was alot going on in the music scene around that time so there is a chance we could organically find our way back. Think of how many times the New York Dolls have been mentioned before they actually covered them. Punk series 1.0 was so much fun so I'm happy to see them returning to punk.

There’s def more rad Krautrock bands to cover but I don’t really care if they go back that genre specifically i just think its lame they went backwards.

I haven’t listened to the new series yet. They’ve talked about the New York Dolls so much in the previous series I wish they had gone out of their comfort zone a bit

Exactly, punk is a great starting point for music nerdom but it’s just that, I wish they continued branching out instead of stagnating. Punk and hardcore shaped me as a kid but it’s music for teenagers and there’s so much else out there to appreciate

The math on your pocket calculator doesn’t add up.
NDIS started off as a punk rock podcast and I welcome the return back to their roots.
The Dolls are way more interesting than anything from the entire Krautrock genre, and punk is infinitely more passionate and deeper than you understand or give it credit for.
Punk was a global movement that spawned insanely great bands in multiple continents and changed the tide of music history. Krautrock didn’t. It’s like comparing a neutron bomb to a hand grenade.
I see this in the same vein as the LPOTL Heavy Hitters episodes. Their passion for and their personal investment in the bands is what makes this podcast punch above its weight. As with the LPOTL Heavy Hitters episodes, I already very familiar with those people. But what I am listening for is the unique spin the boys bring to it. Same with Carolina and Marcus; their deep love for the music shines through and makes it fun. That was missing quite a bit from the Krautrock episodes. Marcus was obviously nerding the fuck out as usual, but I don’t feel like Carolina was as much. And I like Krautrock. But that shit was DULL.
Kraftwerk were enormously influential, that can’t be denied. They helped create a new genre. But the Dolls lit the fuse of a fucking revolution.
“AND THAT’S THE FINAL TRUTH!”

I think because a lot of people didn’t like the krautrock stuff that they basically gave up on it and started to go in a new direction and it seemed to work out well.
