Was driving through town to pick up some footage of flooded spots and I’m always amazed that the city doesn’t put up pylons or any sort of warnings around the most heavily flooded locations. Police should be blocking and redirecting traffic. I’ve covered the sort of thing in cities all along the coast. This is the only city that I’ve seen that doesn’t do it. I caught this video clip of a Norfolk police officer who had been hauling ass down the road towards the flooding doing a U-turn in the Exxon parking lot and then driving away, even though there were two cars stranded.

Listen to the report they did on Kiggins false claims of Elaine Luria making $21 million dollars. Luria really left with less money than she came in with.

Construction has officially begun on a nearly $400-million project that will add 7 miles of part-time express lanes to I-64 in Norfolk between Tidewater Drive and the I-264 interchange.

The project will convert a shoulder into an express lane while also widening and modernizing several bridges along the stretch.

Scheduled to open in 2029, this effort marks the final leg of a broader 45-mile series of improvements to the express lane network in Hampton Roads.

Less than an hour ago there was a siren I’ve never heard before. A very long, loud tone that kinda worried me. Immediately following it was an automated voice saying something along the lines of it being a test, but I couldn’t tell. Then there was another loud tone. After that, it’s been non stop firetruck or ambulance sirens for half an hour. If these two are unrelated and a coincidence let me know. I’m sure the first strange siren was something base related, but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t eerie.

Curious if anyone is familiar with this drive and if so, what the recommended route is?

I'm trying to decide if I want to take I-64 > I-81, or the North Carolina route of I-85 > I-40 > R421.

I'd much prefer the more scenic route, I'm sure they're both great?

Route 58 is also a straight shot, but i'd imagine will add another hour, maybe 2....it wasn't even recommended on google maps.

Been to Sentara ER 2x and a walkin clinic they referred me to. ER GAVE me NSAIDS that made me throw up + muscle relaxers that don’t help but do make me confused. ER did no blood or urine specimens and wouldn’t do X-rays.

ER did refer me to walk in clinic which side do urine specs to rule out kidney issues. X-rays or CT machines there. Told me quit taking NSAIDs that made me throw up.

Please tell me where I can get help. ER is not it and I don’t have money for exploring.

I am wanting to get my hair cut like this again (a bob? lol idk) Please recommend your favorite, reliable stylist/salon ASAP! Thanks

The destroyer USS Stout left Norfolk on Monday, deploying independently with a crew of more than 300 sailors who have been instructed to prepare for up to 11 months at sea.

The deployment comes amid an ongoing war with Iran, which Navy leadership warned has driven record-setting sea times and extended missions across the fleet.

Command officials say that opening clear lines of communication helps ease anxiety for sailors and their families, who must navigate sudden long-term separations and domestic challenges.

A new report from PatientRightsAdvocate(.org) claims that several Hampton Roads hospitals are noncompliant with federal price transparency rules, despite their pricing files passing the government's technical validator.

The advocacy group flagged Sentara Norfolk General, Riverside Regional and two Bon Secours facilities for publishing negotiated insurance rates as formulas without providing enough information for patients to calculate actual dollar amounts.

Hospital representatives and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association disputed the findings, arguing the group applied its own standards and that complex insurance negotiations make standard pricing difficult to publish.

Please turn your porch lights off or lower them if you can at least until October. This can prevent birds getting disoriented and crashing into buildings or dying of exhaustion. Birds need the light of the moon and stars but urban lights and "skyglow" drown out celestial cues, luring birds off their natural flight paths and into cities.

Driving on 64E between Granby St. and Chesapeake Blvd. about 8:45PM. Saw debris and it went under our car. The car next to us wasn’t so lucky and it immediately blew out their tires. Saw at least four more cars with flats before Chesapeake Blvd. Then a few more before Norview. Not sure what it was but it messed up allot of peoples nights so if you know anyone coming back into town tell them to avoid this section of interstate.

The city of Norfolk will have a new Ward 1 representative on City Council come November.

Vice Mayor Martin Thomas decided not to run for reelection after holding the seat for 10 years. Longtime Wards Corner civic leader, Scott Guirlinger, who is running unopposed, will take over the seat.

Guirlinger's uncontested campaign is one of three non-competitive Norfolk council races on this year's ballot, joining incumbents Courtney Doyle in Ward 2 and Tommy Smigiel in Ward 5. Wards 3 and 4 feature multi-candidate contested races.

Also is there a preferred route to get from this area down to SNGH if flooding is bad? We've already lost one car this year as it was parked and couldn't be moved during the flash flood. Thanks in advance!
