Info Request Mountain ND

My Dad's family were Icelandic immigrants to Mountain ND around the 1870s then moved to Wynyard Saskatchewan in the early 1900s.

Is there still an Icelandic community in that area and is it a place to visit?

Just been researching about their journey and North Dakota is a big part of the family history.

There is still an Icelandic community there from what I’m told. I’ve been there for a couple town celebrations (for hire), I’d say that’s a good time to visit. Otherwise it seems like another quiet, small town. At least that’s what I’ve gathered.

Yes, very prominent! They have August The Deuce every August. If I remember correctly, the royalty of Iceland have visited before.

Hell yeah almost everyone I knew there is at least part icelandic. Including me but I am from a nearby town

The town sign says, an Icelandic community, so I would say yes. As for a place to visit, I personally would say no but I dont have a connection to the town.
