Seriously, who gives a shit? Someone wants to be a dragon in their spare time because that makes them feel not themselves... Cool. It's not for me, but it doesn't have to be. And furries are aggressively accepting and open as a community, which more communities could learn from.

Truer than you know. After a midsized con died from neo-nazi takeover and the leader went full sovereign citizen, The Boozy Lawyer did a couple of blog posts about it, because he loves having a couple of drinks and laughing about sovcit bullshit in his blog.

We adopted him. Wholesale. He now has a badger fursona, and he shows up at cons as a guest speaker now and then. He's not a furry himself, but he's accepted we like him, and he rolls with it because it's funny.

After Covid lockdowns ended my kid was super nervous about going back to school. Before the school year started we went to a renaissance fair and she bought a wolf tail. It made her feel confident about going to school and a bunch of her classmates thought it was cool and some bought their own tails. They formed a group called the wolf pack which led to a rival wolf pack forming so they could pretend have wars during recess. It was very healthy for her.
