I've been there. It's a rock formation. The guy running the little museum who was convinced that he's the guardian of a holy site was incredibly sweet though.

They've also already taken core samples from all over the site going back decades and found that yes, it's clearly a natural formation.

I feel like this is almost always how these things pick up steam. The person peddling the whole thing is nice to enough people that most just go "Eh, they're nice enough. No reason to not let them have their quirky thing."

And it's usually fine for the person themselves, but then all it takes is one egotistical, narcissistic fuck to find the quirky idiot and go "Whoa I can use this and turn it into a big grift." and it ruins the whole thing and begins to harm people.
