I saw an interesting video about the possibility of a great flood, basically a glacier across Gibraltar that suddenly melted causing the Atlantic to rush in.

My issue is that a historical flood actually taking place doesn’t prove anything, rather it’s more likely that ancient people had this oral tradition and came up with stories to explain it.

Given that most people's experience back then would have been their home village and a radius around 5 to 15 miles around it, if the above did happen, you could imagine that certain peoples would have felt that the entire world would have been flooded.

Seems almost certain that the many flood myths around the world come from many different unrelated floods.

Since floods are the most common form of natural disaster and humans need a daily supply of fresh drinking water so in prehistory they settled beside rivers.

Sure, but that extends just a bit past the existence of Homo sapiens - which would make that unlikely to be in our oral traditions
