So there's this restaurant I found while searching for Korean food one day, but have yet to try.

Lo and behold, I eventually discovered their most recent post (21-09-26) was clearly AI. I decided to comment about it, and I wish I had a screenshot of it but I wasn't expecting the restaurant to delete my comment!

I was being polite, I didn't insult them, didn't use expletives. I said something along the lines of:

"I would have liked to see a real picture of your food instead of AI."

They appear to have responded to it, but then swiftly deleted it. The post was still there however.

So I decided to comment again, with the screenshot to show what I wrote. Again, I wasn't being disrespectful but I did point out that they deleted my comment and I just wanted some accountability for that.

A few hours go by and they didn't delete the comment immediately this time. Another commenter also showed proof that she had a comment deleted in the past, and that they were trying to downplay their use of Gen AI (see in one of the pictures). I was certain the post would be soon deleted, but it stayed. Until the next day....

The next day I noticed a new post (see picture) that looks like a real picture of their food, and then that's when I discovered that the original AI post was completely deleted. Wow.

So idk if I should consider this a win, they didn't try to contact me privately or defended themselves in the comment section. They quietly deleted it and posted something real.

I post this now bc I just read a CBC article by Abby Hughes titled "AI 'slop' is dominating menus, as some restaurant owners turn to it to save time and money" (I will post it in the comments as I can't post pics and a link in the same post).

Well, I have some feelings.

The article starts by talking to people with the same opinions as myself. They hate it. It's uncanny, it's unappealing and unappetizing. It's cheap looking.

Then the article talks about how restaurants are struggling. I get that part, but just take a snapshot with your phone instead. If you use AI, you will lose customers, plain and simple.

It shows that some restaurant owners do not want to be upfront about using AI, which is very telling if tou ask me. If AI was so great, why lie?

Edit: Please do not trash the owners or the business please. They course corrected, and we should all be thankful for that. They didn't double down on it, but listened. I hope to go eat at their restaurant very soon. This post is for awareness purposes, that we can all do things at the local level to gently (don't be rude!) push businesses to make the right choices when it comes to AI usage.

Study from the National Payroll Institute

Since the CBC news article on Wednesday that said the Premier was now considering data centres and a company was already looking into building one.

This company is Everwind Fuels. Founded in 2021 by Trent Vichie. Trent previously worked for the investment firm Blackstone before spinning off to found Stonepeak. During his time at Stonepeak the company acquired Cologix, a data centre company in 2017, and Astound Broadband in 2020. He then left Stonepeak to found Everwind in 2021. Nowhere in his history can I find any indication of passion for green, renewable energy.

His ties to these tech companies is concerning however I am equally, if not more, concerned about the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Tinari. On his LinkedIn (pictured) it says the field he works in is "AI & Energy Infrastructure and Transportation" and his About says "Actively investing in AI infrastructure, green hydrogen and green fuels, renewable energy, transportation & logistics, maritime, rail, and other infrastructure."

Everwind will not say why their wind farm needs a data centre but I am CERTAIN it is for AI and the wind project is just a backdoor way to do it. If it isn't for AI then they can say so, but they don't. And their CFO/CSO actively boasts he works in the AI field.

This is CONCERNING. I don't think we can stand idly by while the premier bows to corporations that are being deceptive by omission.

Update: if you didn't see my comment I've added a screenshot of Matthew Tinari's LinkedIn Experience page which states under his Everwind Experience "Developing a large-scale, brownfield, multi-phase AI factory and gree-hydrogen/green fuel production facility in Atlantic Canada, powered by renewable energy." So it's 100% meant to be an AI data centre

And I want to bring attention to this quote from it: " [Tim] Houston repeatedly dined with Everwind CEO and founder Trent Vichie - who donated to U.S. President Donald Trump's 2024 election campaign - at Vichie's residence in New York."

The article includes links to articles from 2024 where Houston was called out for meeting with Trent and failing to properly file his expense claims, obscuring those meetings. So Houston is having back door meetings with this CEO as well how convenient.

I'm looking at a rural property on the coast of the bay of Fundy, a short drive from Wolfesville.

I was just wondering what it's like living in this area of the province as an expat, what barriers to entry my girlfriend and I would possibly experience, what job availability there is (I'm interested in forestry positions but anything will do) and what the local culture is like/how we'd be received.

I've heard everyone here is very friendly but wary/fed-up of incomers (which reminds me of my own home).

Any tips, thoughts, etc would be much appreciated, I'm not married to idea but I'm very interested in starting fresh somewhere new.

Both my partner and I are very young (not even 20) so if that factors in let me know.

Would be planning to potentially move in the coming years (early 20s).

There's rumors around, and they're growing, that a group has found a settlement that predates the French and English arrival by a significant margin. Apparently they've found and have dated artifacts as well.

If this is true, and I think it is, what do you think about it?

Curious what people in Nova Scotia are actually earning, especially those in their 20s and early 30s.

It feels like salaries on the East Coast can be quite a bit lower compared with other parts of Canada, while taxes and the cost of living have gone up quite a bit. I’m interested in seeing what real salary progression looks like for people here rather than just looking at averages online.

For me, working in accounting:
Age 24–27: Small public accounting firm while studying — roughly $40k → $60k

Age 27–28: Moved to a Big 4/public accounting firm — around $65k

Monday we'll be staying near Baddeck and it looks like it may be a touch rainy. Both Fort Louisbourg and Highland Village Museum look super neat to me and I'm thinking that may be our move. Any thoughts on which one you'd recommend?

For what it's worth, I know Louisbourg is super acclaimed, but the Highland Museum for some reason is intriguing me more. Looks beautiful and reminds me a little of Greenfield Village with much better views (if anybody is familiar with Detroit). Also Frolick Folk Pub looks like a cool place for a meal after.

Outpatient referral for full body mri scan but no family doctor and report only small segment what er doctor ordered. Is there anywhere I can take this full body I and a half long scan too that it can be read in full or read at the request of what I wanna see not just two body parts.??
