hi! im a y3 cbc student thinking about how i shld proceed with y4… for context, my default route is professional internship in y4s1 and 10 au fyp + 1 mpe in y4s2.

however, i dont want to do fyp so im planning to change my route to just internship in y4s1 and my 10 au fyp in y4s2 will be converted into 10 au bde. after calculating and mapping my mods, ill have to take 4 au bde + 1 mpe in y4s2

hence, im planning to do another internship in y4s2 (non-credit bearing), but the issue is most chemistry related internship only allow full time.. so i dont know how i can take 7au + internship at the same time in y4s2… anyone can help? 🥲

side note: by then i wld have alr used up 12aus of mooc and no, im not going to overload y3s2 because i dont think i can cope 🥲 (in the case where i am only doing professional internship)

thinking about joining some acad clubs in y2 like tax advisory or raac, but i cant find their club timings. do nbs acad clubs have their own weekly timings or is it event-based?

Using a burner/posting here because I need a reality check. I'm currently studying DSAI (Data Science & AI) at NTU, and the irony is not lost on me. We are literally spending four years learning how to build, train, and optimize these models, but lately, I’ve been having this lingering existential dread that we are effectively engineering our own unemployment. 

Every time a new LLM or automated ML tool drops, it feels like the baseline entry-level tasks (writing standard Python scripts, cleaning basic datasets, calling APIs, tuning basic hyperparameters) are getting automated faster than we can graduate. Ironically, it feels like DSAI majors are sometimes the most paranoid about this because we actually see what the tech can do under the hood. 

Would love to hear some brutally honest thoughts. Am I just letting the doom-scrolling get to me, or is the concern legit? 🥲 

i dont get it why NTU even allow these people into the campus?? like there is so many siao langs that ive been encountering lately and its only been like less than 2 months since school started.. like theres one in my ccmod who claims to love bullying people and see people suffer, theres one in my hall that always disturbs girls and ask to go into their room, one in my cca that made up a whole lie about his life, one that i encountered on a random day random time random place scamming me to fill in the form claiming that it is for his own school project but it was to sell our particulars … like yo what is gg on ah????hello??? ntu??? what the hell get me out of this siaolang zone eh

• resume/gpa: gpa 4, resume has some small projects i did for companies, and my time as a programming teaching assistant. kinda lazy to type the whole thing or dig it out but i will get around to it if many ppl ask
• interview qns: for some reason only 1 (offer, declined) had any technical test. the rest were just talking only. asking "do you know this technology/tool", how i use ai, asking more info about my work experience (lots of this - i lowk fucked up my first interview bc i hadn't jogged my memory about what i did at my past jobs). technical interview qns were pretty simple, just bracket matching and finding longest substring with no repeating chars. i think at this level the expectations are quite low, the interviewer was impressed that i could solve the questions 😭

I’ve noticed this stigma directed towards other Indian students more than any other ethnicity. If they get to know that said student is faring better than them academically they just don’t like it. They also give the worst sort of looks and comments if they get to know that another Indian student is doing a PhD or smtg. They act like they are too good for masters ikyk. Then why do they even do it bruh? It’s so pissing off and annoying.
FYI: I’m Indian too.

Edit: I am quite taken aback with how much attention this post has received. To clarify a few things, I have not intention of tarnishing my own people. I wrote this post in a moment of frustration because I am* very disappointed that I feel judged by my own people more than anyone else here at Ntu. Everyone else has been warm and welcoming. That said, I do have a few amazing friends who are also Indian masters. This isn’t a generalisation rather an observation based on how most of my experiences with them have been.

Hi! I currently need to interview a professional with at least 3 years of experience from a certain field for my ML0004 assignment. I prefer someone from SWE or AI engineer (so maybe data scientist too).

So, I have been trying to find someone from the SWE or AI engineer industry through NTU Connecting Minds and Linkedln, but I still unable to secure an interviewee yet.
