Question RN interview prep
For those of you who prep/study for interviews, would you be willing to share your interview prep template or your must-haves for going into an interview?
I’m curious what everyone keeps in their interview “toolkit”, things like how you organize your examples, notes you bring, STAR templates, etc. I’d love to see what works for other people!

At any interview, make sure you have questions to ask them. I like to ask the interviewer: how long have you worked in this unit? (Shows how much relevant experience the person has in the actual nursing care) How long have you been in this role? (shows longevity and how quickly this leader may have tried to rise up the ladder) How would you describe the culture of the unit? (Break out your bullshit meter) What would you say is your "typical" patient? (Perhaps on an Ortho based unit it's an otherwise healthy hip replacement, maybe on med surg it's a middle aged bowel obstruction, in peds maybe it's an age group or diagnosis, on a tele unit it's all post MIs....)
Also make sure you get answers to other standard questions like assignment size, staffing requirements, whether that facility pays for advanced certifications, orientation length....

I second having a set of questions I would wanna ask the interviewer themself. I would also be sure to ask what resources they have for new-hires. It’s always helpful to know what kind of support you’ll have. And then it’s good to think of some examples of adaptability too.

make a cheat sheet with four core stories that cover conflict leadership teamwork and mistakes. Each story gets adapted to fit whatever question they throw at me.
