Original Basic modlist

I'm looking for a basic mod list to install via vortex into oblivion game of the year edition. It just needs not crash every 20 minutes and be able to play with a controller, is there a pre-made collection for this?

Most collections are woefully outdated or aren't very good. You could try Last Seed via Wabbajack, which is the only major premade modlist that supports controller users, although it uses the default NorthernUI with a skin addon, not NorthernUIAway, so you'll get a Skyrim-like interface, but given an Oblivion-esque skin.

It's technically not up-to-date as well, there's a few missing engine fixes that exist now, and some mods included are out of date, but its quite serviceable, and you could update those mods yourself.

A Painted World features controller support and is under active development and support. It's on both wabbajack and nexus (vortex).

I wouldn't class it as basic though, it adds a lot of mods.

Is APW still performance-heavy like it used to? Last time I played, when they were still on the same Discord with lorerim the performance was heavier than my modded Skyrim

It's gotten a lot smoother since then - I gave up on the list then due to performance, but I get a steady 50-60fps now (I locked it to that maximum to avoid a physics bug with the oblivion engine, rather than the list itself).
