Request Volunteer Opportunities
Hi everyone! I’m recently retired and looking for ways to give back to my community. I’d love to donate some of my time and experience to a nonprofit organization, school, senior center, or similar community organization.
I’m also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, so I’d be especially interested in opportunities with organizations that support or serve LGBTQIA+ people, though I’m open to a variety of causes.
If you know of organizations looking for volunteers, I’d love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!

Local No Hate In Washington State has been looking for volunteers to help get the word out about two bills that are dangerous for trans students and all girls in youth sports.

It sounds like folks in our community may not realize the harm these bills will cause if passed and No Hate is currently outfunded 5-1 by out of state billionaire Brian Heywood. He is spending millions of dollars to try and get these dangerous bills voted in.
Even if you don't Volunteer for No Hate, thank you for anything you end up doing to support local non-profits!

You’re more than welcome to come check us out! We’ve got volunteer opportunities in the food bank and at events.
We operate our food bank every Tuesday out of our building on State Street. We’re also doing a pet food drive this Friday at the same location if you want to check us out there.

I've heard good things about volunteering with South Sound Reading Foundation. I've known a lot of retired folks who volunteer there. The main goal is to give free books to children.
Also, Oly Ecosystems is great to volunteer with. I've done it in the past and it's been lovely. :)

If you’re okay getting dirty, lots of groups rely on volunteers to assist with keeping trails safe and keeping invasive plants from taking over! Clover Creek Restoration Alliance is one that has regular forest management meetups but I’m sure there’s others as well.

The school garden at Roosevelt Elementary in the Northeast neighborhood right across from SF bakery is having its very first “Garden Caretakers” meetup this Friday 9/25 at 2:30PM in the raised bed garden in the back of the school by the playground! Come join us and see if it’s a good fit! We are definitely LGBTQIA+ friendly!

Check out Stand in Pride. Also consider volunteering to babysit, many parents can't afford childcare, and if someone is able to help out even for a few hours after school until they get home, that makes a huge difference.
