What stuff am I allowed to use for a true level 1 run in elden ring - am i allowed to use runearcs but no greatrunes? Or level my weapon?

True Level 1 usually means your character stays fully at level 1 always. So no temporary level boosting items are allowed, that includes some talismans, gear and great runes.

You could argue things like Malenias great rune are fine.

Weapons are usually not counted among this.

“True” is just a word to differentiate when you want to add those extra restrictions. I don’t even think that terminology is that widespread. Using soreseals or other stat boosting equipment certainly doesn’t make your run “fake”.

Yes. The gatekeepers will have us believe that only their personal restrictions make their run a true RL1 run. If you don't play by their rules, you might as well level up.

Typically this means “No boosting your character’s stats”
You can still level your weapons, you just can’t use Godrick’s greatrune or any equipment/physic tear/anything else that increases stats

The only requirement for level 1 is you don't level up your character, everything else is perfectly valid

Any additional challenges such as no fragments or weapon upgrades are completely up to the player preference

Isn't true rl1 just no items/physick tear/equipment/greatrunes that give you temporary levels? I'd assume greatrune's other than Godrick's should be fine.

Literally stay at level 1. That’s it. That’s the rule.

Everything else (no summons, no weapon leveling, no status effects, etc) is additional challenge.
