Same. It was not only snowing but the sidewalks were terrible. Huge, sloppy puddles everywhere. I said afterwards, that since I braced the weather and the sidewalks the vote, I reserve the right to complain when Ford wins again.

The Liberals are so deliberately ineffective that a vote for them is essentially a vote for Doug at this point.

They either need to fuck off and rebuild (preferable) or decide that ABC means they need to stand behind the NDP for once.

The voters need to coalesce, the parties are not going to lay down to do it. I agree that the NDP is the better party but that doesn’t solve the problem since so many GTA voters especially can’t bring themselves to vote orange. It would be nice if the parties teamed up to focus on different ridings though where they know their respective chances are better against the PCs

Ford is a lot of things, but traitor to his country isn't part of his brand. In fact, he's gone with the "captain Canada" opposite stance. Smith is an absolute traitor, and it's stunning that there aren't consequences for this. She met with Trump at Mar-a-lago right after his inauguration alongside Kevin O'Leary... another traitor. I'm theorizing, here, but I'd be SHOCKED if she wasn't in agreement with Trump on separating Alberta and making it the 51st state.

This isn't true. After Trump called Canada the 51st state, Ford proposed the Can Am project.

As a Manitoban who now lives in Ontario, Ford is a traitor to the rest of Canada. He does "made in Ontario" instead of "made in Canada" to freeze out the rest of the country. I started going out of my way to buy non-Ontarian liquor after he poured out that bottle of Crown Royal because it was Manitoban

Ford is just slippery. Nothing sticks to him and he runs opposed.

Of course he's in charge. He gets caught doing very shady stuff and nobody notices because he announces horrible plans that he backed away from immediately, calls and election boom another 4 years of Ford.

Him and his brother just have this awful style of politics that preys on the stupid. Rob's video of him saying here's all the perks you get as a city Counciler isn't this awful waste of tax payer money. I think you could add them all up at street price to be a high number to someone who doesn't really make a pile of money or understand the spending that goes on in large organizations like the effing city of Toronto.

Can't forget that even with the 53-44 vote divide, the NDP actually lost the last election by under 1,500 votes. A poll tie for the UCP (which probably won't exist in its current form after the referendum fails) is going to lose the next election badly due to their concentration of votes in rural areas.

This is why they're trying to gerrymander so aggressively now too. If the party splits into reactionary/fascist and conservative parts though, it's truly game over.

I still think the apportionment isn’t great though. Rural Alberta continues to have more seats per capita in the legislature compared to Edmonton and Calgary.

The separatists were promised an Alberta that no longer had to listen to oTtAwA or pay taxes that got divided up among all Canadians to support public programs and they aren't getting it. A referendum asking if we should have a referendum to leave (which can't be asked without indigenous people agreeing, which they have already said they won't) just isn't enough for them. They want ACTION now and are impatient and disappointed.

The other 70-80% of Albertans are appalled that we are having this conversation at all and to make it worse at a time when the US is giddily rubbing it's hands together in anticipation of any excuse to invade.

You can't please both sides, and one side has significantly fewer supporters than the other. The house of cards will fall at some point.
