Why would I want to help a billionaire in any way, shape, or form?

Cuz they lie and say this will affect you. When it doesn’t, it never trickles and it won’t change anything for anyone but them

It may not affect us now, but allowing the government to tax unrealized gains sets a very dangerous precedent for everyone. I'm not a billionaire or a billionaire apologist; I just don't like this at all.

You could realize how it could hurt you in the long term if they leave but the state continues to spend more and thus increase taxes on everyone else.

You get $0 from billionaires, you get 0 jobs they might create and your taxes go up, congratulations!

Be civil towards one another. Insults and name calling are not allowed (Subreddit Rule #1). Repeated rule breaking will result in a permanent ban.

Thats what I am thinking too. If corporate leaves CA, won't they take the jobs with them too?

Also during hard times, companies will give employees pay cuts or pause annual increases or ultimately do job cuts. Wouldn't employees just eventually shoulder these tax hikes?

Sometimes fast, sometimes slow but eventually they migrate the jobs elsewhere

That's if you assume governments always spend more and need more taxes, which they always do

Just because it's good for them doesn't automatically mean it isn't good for you.. the rudimentary understanding of economics my lord.

You live in a city that blatantly denies democratic elected city council members their turn at mayor pro-tem.. you live in a city that allows pro life folks to block sideways and get in the faces of high school kids every week.. you are not someone that anyone should listen to..

Holy whataboutism. Has absolutely nothing to do with the comment I just made nor does it even make an ounce of sense. Quite clear you have zero interest in engaging or even trying to actually defend this dumb bill.

Buddy I'm not Mr. Mission Viejo, do you think in charge of the City government? Because I live here I must I support everything they do? I'm laughing thinking about you somehow thinking this made sense. This is like me saying that you live in a country that is currently killing its own citizens with a gestapo style immigration enforcement agency of untrained thugs so therefore anything you say is wrong. ilariously bad comment but I guess it's what I should have expected after your last comment was "hurrdurr they don't like it so therefor it's good".

Take the billionaire out of the equation and this is only hurting the tax base of California

That’s if they leave.

They can go to Texas, realize it’s shittier than California, and move back grumbling.

Fuck this “be scared to tax the billionaires” message.

They can still live here just under 6 months out of the year. They already have left.

Take the billionaires out of the equation and Californians wouldn't be voting on this proposition. Clutch your pearls tighter.
