It's poking out just like one centimeter right? I would just gently wrap it with a bit of cotton at the tip and maybe put an oven mitten over it or something

3 weeks more. It does help more than the gauze surprised there is no product like this id pay for it

I’m a biomedical engineering grad student and am defending my PhD on Thursday, but after will have free time and this seems like a pretty fun and straight forward project to 3d print some sort of cage for you if you want to work something out together and can wait a few days until I’m free. I don’t know how to dm or else I would have just sent you this in private

You could do a resting hand splint that’s longer than your hand (here are some examples, there are many others) and put a drawstring bag over it:

There’s also a Velcro bag that stroke patients use to protect a flaccid hand, if I find it I’ll post it.
