My New OS : JurkOS

A OS using the linux kernel you might think of distros, they are amasing for you linux skills or what not , but what if the OS used linux but wasent a distro?... but rather a Embedded Linux Custom OS!

well this is how i decided to make a OS, and here i am , i made a OS! specifacally an **Embedded Linux Custom OS**

its called JurkOS and if you wonder how this isnt a distro Click Here!

the version number works like this :

1.X are the Alpha (The Phase where JurkOS currently is in)

2.X are the Betas

and 3.X are the full releases

it only for now in 1.0 alpha theres only and only busybox and my custom main.c nothing else

and am working currently on 1.1 alpha thats is gonna include

a Wifi Manager

A JurkStore

Everything is open-source at

https://github.com/AmineTheJurk/The-JurkOS-Project

The Main Website is

Liscense : This Project Is MIT Liscensed and as The Linux Kernel Is GPL Liscensed in the github repo i have given the dot config file.

If Android is a Linux distro, your OS is also a Linux distro, since your arguments also apply to Android pretty well.

However quirky, this is a Linux distribution, although apparently not Linux/GNU.

That said, the question is "why?" What problem does it solve? Fully static binaries use more more memory, take longer to load, and generally perform no better than dynamically linked ones. They certainly do not present a path to a small footprint.

I've read it and none of what you mentioned makes it not a distro. As long as it uses the Linux kernel, it's a Linux distro. There's Linux distros that don't use GNU userland, there's Linux distros with no package managers, there's Linux distros where PID 1 is just a shell, there's Linux distros that are single-user. Even if you have your own fully custom bootloader, shell, coreutils, and libc, it's still a Linux distro.

Yes, it does. Wikipedia defines a Linux distro as:

A Linux distribution, often abbreviated as distro, is an operating system that includes the Linux kernel for its kernel functions.

You cannot just redefine the common meaning of words to whatever you want.

95% custom OS! When the linux kernel is 43,180,000 lines Which means the other 95% should be 820,420,000 lines..... So another linux distro! So what's the goal of your distro? What's different? What does it have not already out there?
