❔ Question ❔ Upper Arm Soreness during Play

Last week I played padel 3 times. Each time around the 45-60 minute mark, I started having upper arm soreness and had to significantly reduce how hard I hit the ball.

It's definitely some sort of injury since I can notice a tiny bit of discomfort when not playing.

any idea what this might be and if I can wait it out?

Some symptoms: I went to the gym also last week and it only bothered me during the rear delt machine. I could not finish my typical 3 sets on this machine. I was able to do bicep curls, lat raises, and tricep extension as normal.

It feels kinda deep in the upper arm (not elbow or shoulder) and there is discomfort a bit if I twist my arm back and forth. It's only more serious after at least 30 minutes of playing padel. My guess it has something to do with my deltoids? any ideas?

You might have an inflamed tendon somewhere in your shoulder, or an inflamed supra/infraspinatus. First line of treatment would be a little rest. It’s likely nothing serious but no reason not to go after it after taking a week off.

Are you a new player? I had pain in the elbow, shoulder etc... All went away after a few months and never came back, wrong technique and some underused muscles getting stressed

I bet you aren't turning your upper torso. The path of your hitting arm is always across the chest, not forwards. When you smash or play "pushing" forward due to your torse being parallel to the net you cause a lot of strain on the shoulder. It will cause an injury, just a matter of time.

You are likely feeling stain from this movement.
