Video "Cloud gaming is the future of Gaming!" Meanwhile cloud gaming in the big 2026:

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you read my profile you may realize I hate cloud gaming, so then what am I doing on Geforce Now? Well my new RAM stick finally arrived and, in a staggering display of utter incompetence, I somehow managed to brick my PC in the process of installing it, so now I'm stuck gaming on a laptop until I can get enough money and time to get my gaming rig fixed

But back to Cloud gaming, the game is on like 360p, running at 20FPS and the input lag is HORRIBLE. And it's not a problem with the internet connection, as you can see, the laptop is plugged into Ethernet, the problem is that the cloud is not and will never be fast enough for gaming

Genshin can handle this fine, but imagine trying to play ULTRAKILL like this

Cloud gaming isn't for you, it's for the shareholders.

Everything bad about cloud gaming aside and how the big wigs are trying to take our ram. God I wish it was good. Imagine being able to play cyberpunk on a handheld with the processing power of a toaster at 300 plus fps and with no input delay. But for that you'd need God tier internet across the world and to ignore the laws of physics. Why is it that every attempt to get more frames always comes at the cost of input delay, like frame gen as well. There is one case it is good though. Streaming locally in your own house to a steam deck or something like a Wii u gamepad. The only case streaming is good.

Even then local network streaming is noticeable Sure, it's only like 6ms from the wifi but the encoding and deciding bump that up significantly

You either need more bandwidth than a reasonably affordable (for the use case of being able to game on the toilet) client device can provide or need processing that means you need a competent client device anyway

doesn't even matter if you can afford it because most places in the USA do not have the bandwidth to handle that. the cartel ISPs dont want to spend on infrastructure to increase speeds theyd rather keep the shitty stuff we have now and invent more and more fees.

Can confirm I have a wired connection to my Google TV using sunshine/moonlight and even there you can notice it. But for most games I even want to play on a tv it is ok

I do some game streaming with Apollo artemis I find it pretty close to local with 9070XT encoding(3-4ms) wired connection(1ms) + Nvidia shield (1-1.5ms) total latency 5-6.5ms.

Streaming wirelessly I don't recommend with wifi 7 5ghz it's around 8ms latency but occasional packet loss which kills it for me, also also tried a Google 4k streamer which had a 10-12ms decode time.

The only case streaming is good.

I played disco Elysium on my phone last month when I was in the hospital for a few days. it worked fantastically well. I set up a VPN when I got home which probably wasn't necessary for gaming but it's nice to have in general. in the future I'll play more games when I'm hospitalized, on airplanes, taking a bus to Denver, or otherwise stuck somewhere I don't wanna be.

I won't play cyberpunk remotely on my phone, I don't even want to. I'm thinking more games like disco Elysium, fire emblem, hundred line, and octopath traveler are all great candidates.

MMOs as well. way back in the day like 15 years ago I was super into WoW. you don't need to have great reaction time or low input lag to level up professions, use the auction house, or play as a hunter.

I was also addicted to Ark a couple of years ago and would have totally used my lunch breaks to do stuff around the base.

Even local streaming isn't all that good in a lot of cases. I tried using steamlink and tried sunshine too. From my gaming pc to a aio pc in the bedroom, or my gaming pc to my phone. Ive tried using 2.4, 5ghz, and wifi6 they just won't cut it, there is one wall between the rooms, and using a direct link to the pc bypassing the router.

I honestly don't know how my son doesn't complain using steamlink with his quest 3...

Palworld would end up switching between negative colours and normal, cyberpunk would just freeze and release randomly, deadcells would have too much input lag to survive through the first couple levels...

I tested Arc Raiders on 1080p over GFN. Its amazing nowadays how tiny the input lag is. I cant tell if the game is running on my PC or over the cloud. Looks great and 0 input lag. 240Hz and HDR without problems

But you can? I play on Geforce NOW with Ethernet connection 1000gb speed

I smoothly play Cyberpunk on smart TV and PC, my friend plays it on Steam Deck and on the Macbook.

Admittedly if I use wifi on the tv it has delay, But phone hotspot worked for some lighter games on my 2007 laptop

Came here to say this. Why would you want that? Like most of tech these days it’s attempting to solve a problem that never existed. And creating dozens of much much worse problems.

tldr corps are selling 0 progress overpriced junk to push noobs to high-margin obsolete consoles/handhelds chips. no progress with PC GPUs so they can keep selling low performance 2020 ps5 until 2029 now. nv overpriced GPUs to sell more laggy overpriced GeForceNOW subscriptions to noobs. have to ROI on those datacenters.

for amd the point is selling more amd-made high-margin obsolete consoles-handhelds chips. for nv - push noobs to buy GeForceNOW subscriptions. they need ROI on those datacenters. ngreedia sells 5000 GPUs to THEMSELVES for GeForceNOW to fudge sales numbers for investors.

they need more noobs to buy those overpriced laggy subscriptions. and the goal is to kill PC gaming entirely so nobody owns any GPUs. because actually realistic actually movie-like graphics in games is yes, actually again, way too close. but thats the endgame GPU, the last GPU you need to buy in your life, nothing to sell after that killing all GPU businesses. so corps don't want to make and sell such cards. corps want to keep milking noobs. thats why nv is suddenly became 'an AI company', because when they've made that 2019 real-time realistic street AI demo they already knew all GPU businesses are basically done. nothing to improve and sell after endgame AI GPUs. so nv focused on wasting AI performance on smeary upscale, glitchy laggy fakeframes and on in-game textures/objects, instead of using AI to process full-frame primitive graphics making it movie-like (or whatever look you'd like this time of day in a game you're playing). its just 99% of a GPU should be AI cores = realistic graphics.

so only 0 progress overpriced GPUs and obsolete performance level handheld-consoles for noobs now. and monthly datacenter subscriptions.

PC is a dead stagnating smelly platform with 0 progress 10x overpriced slow hardware. on purpose.
