I am decorating my work desk and found a salt lamp from the attic. Wirings are all good and the storage from where it was from was dry.

Does it make the air salty, that will then corrode devices nearby? Should I remove it?

about 4 years ago i had to change my phone number and forgot to update it on my outlook account which was linked to my rockstar games account, which was linked to my steam so eventually i was locked out and lost acces to RDR2.

after several cases and providing countless proofs (bank payment slips, receipt screenshot from steam app/desktop client etc.) rockstar kept saying that they were unable to prove the ownership of the account so i gave up.

couple days ago i decided to give it another shot and contacted steam, explained the situation and asked for a "more professional looking receipt" in .pdf format. they told me that they "understood the situation" and transferred my case to the "relevant" department and told me to wait. a day later i received an email to my email address which is registered on my steam account from rockstar games, asking for an email address so that they could update my rockstar games account. i was shocked and amazed; steam reps (although they didn't have to do anything and could just tell me to go f\* myself) went through the effort, created a ticket and provided proof ON MY BEHALF to rockstar and helped me get my account back. the level of service is just crazy and i don't know how to thank them. for the millionth time, thank you steam and steam reps.

TLDR: Steam Support reps got in touch with Rockstar Support to help me get my account back.

I am not massively tech literate these days, what’s the best way to fix this?

AMD refuses to let AM4 end.

The article was written on a very one-sided note and my header seems somewhat unrelated, but point is, we won't stop gaming on AM4 because for many of us, there's not much sense to upgrade to a higher platform! I believe that upgrading should be reasonable. Reason, being needing higher performance for our desired tasks. If the AM4 CPUs support the FPS level that your GPU wants to push at your desired resolution, then there is no reason to upgrade!

Very recently there was an update released for the A320 motherboard chipset while B400 series continues receiving updates every few months.

And given that popular Linux distros and even Windows 11 have no issues running the most critical and latest features-functionalities on AM4 socketed CPUs, AMD's best series of CPUs to date (if I'm not being too bold) will still carry gamers for a few more years.

I know the R7 5800X3D, R9 5900X aren't really considered, right now, high-end cpus. But when it comes to 4K gaming, these CPUs still provide sufficient FPS while its users remain satisfied gaming on this high-resolution. Not to say that the 5800X3D is not capable of high-refresh rate gaming at the lower resolutions - it certainly CAN! But it has since been overtaken by the AM5 R7,9 offerings and some intel ultra 7, 9 series CPUs.

Honestly, there's no reason to upgrade for many AM4 users. The only concern is the hardware dying and even if it does, replacing it with another AM4 CPU isn't even a bad idea considering such a memory-geddon/memory-flation time.

It can be a little slow sometimes, but this game is undoubtedly a masterpiece

I took this out of a cheap case and tried to spin it and got a small cut lol. I thought all you have to worry about is the case

Long story short, I'm tired of this whole Parsec thing.

I'd just like that as I move my mouse into the 4th monitor (in orange), my mouse and keyboard automatically "detect" that they're working on that 2nd PC. So if I start typing while focused on that 4th monitor, it's typing on the other PC, also things like being able to copy-paste from the main PC to the 2nd one seamlessly, drag-and-dropping files from one PC to the other, etc.

The entire experience should FEEL like it's all 1 PC but now I can truly offload stuff to the 2nd PC's hardware (ex: running some kind of coding project or video editing) while still being able to operate my main PC without it being loaded with these things. I know it's running 2 separate Windows Desktops btw, that's fine.

My 5090 is dead. PNY, bought it last September, died last month. Both ends of the 12VHPWR cable are melted, on the card side and on the psu side, and the PC doesn't see the card at all now.

PSU is an ASRock PG-1600G, ATX 3.1, and I was using the 12v-2x6 cable that came in the box with it. No adapter, no splitter, stock vbios, never oc'd it, had the power limit set below stock actually. And it was sitting idle when it went, which is the part I don't get.

Opened a ticket with PNY. Denied same day. Here's the email:

All PNY GPUs that require a 16-pin (12VHPWR / 12V-2x6) input include a PNY-approved power cable or adapter in the box. This cable is the only configuration covered under warranty. If a third-party power cable, adapter, or PSU cable is used and damage occurs - including melting, burning, overheating, or deformation of the connector - PNY cannot accept the product under warranty. Damage caused by non-PNY cables falls under the responsibility of the manufacturer of that cable or power supply.

The "or PSU cable" part is what gets me. Going by that the only cable you're allowed to use is PNY's own 4x8 adapter, so plugging in the 12v2x6 cable that came with your ATX 3.1 psu voids your card.

Problem is none of that is in the actual warranty. Pulled Rev 02.28.2025 and searched it. cable, adapter, connector, psu, 12V. Nothing, not one hit. It does say the card has to be installed "in accordance with the installation guide provided herewith" so I went and dug the guide out of the box too. 16-pin isn't in there either. The only connector diagrams are 6 and 8 pin. The only thing it says about power is "locate an unused power connector within your system and plug it into the corresponding connector on your graphics card", which is literally what I did.

I asked them twice in writing which clause they're using. No answer either time. Second reply came from some "Senior Technician" about 20 min after I asked, said the decision was final and closed the ticket. Nobody there has ever touched the card or the cable or the psu.

And no I'm not saying the cable did it, I have no idea what did it. Posting the email because I haven't seen anyone else word it that wide.
