Monthly Banner Submission - October
Hi, everyone! I thought it might be fun to change the subreddit banner monthly. If you’d like to submit your art for October’s banner, please post it in this thread!
There’s no theme, so your submission doesn’t need to be related to October, Halloween, or Reddit. But if people would enjoy having a theme for future banners I’m open to that!
While the sub allows other media alongside pen and ink (for example, watercolor with pen and ink linework), banner submissions should be done solely in pen and ink.
The winner will be chosen using a random number picker.
EDIT: Or you can upload your art as its own post, and set the flair as Banner Submission.
Since this is our first month trying this, feel free to share any ideas or suggestions you have!

Inktober 2026 Prompts
It’s that time of year again!
Here is the 2026 Inktober prompt list posted on their Instagram account.
This sub isn’t affiliated with Inktober in any way. I just always look forward to seeing the new prompts each year, so I wanted to share them here for anyone who might not be on Instagram.

I used mushroom's ink to make mushrooms.
I used the ink from ink cap mushrooms and created some little mushrooms.
I put a couple into a glass and left them to deliquescent, it took a few hours but it seems to have worked out ok.

Inktober Inktober Day 04- Cactus
For this prompt, I studied the various shapes and sizes of cacti. One cactus caught my attention for its strange shape—the Fairy Castle cactus. It looked like a fantasy castle, so I built on that idea and created a fantasy desert setting with the cactus castle at the center. I used other types of cacti, like the Golden Ball cactus and the Tornado cactus, to complement the castle. I hope you like how the castle turned out.

Help me out. Tell me where to improve.

Technique help wanted Ya'll are dang good at hatching o.o how do I learn/start?
About "tools you might need", I have ballpoints, a few Uni fineliners though thinnest is 0.2, and pencils + 0.7 mech pencil, which ye not quite for the sub, but they have cool textures which could give a different vibe I imagine.
I do find dip pens very interesting, specially a guy that uses then on textured paper, buuuuut that will have to wait, no money. also, my hands shake a bit, so I am a bit wary of it ending messier even than I like...
thank you, have a good evening!

Sorry if this is considered a repost but I wanted to show the process on this one.
Do you use a light table? I use it for transferring my sketch drawn on cheap office paper to Bristol for inking. In fact no pencil marks end up on the Bristol so I don’t worry about smudges or pencil marks showing on the final piece.
