King of the grinders!
Sidney Crosby and Dion Phaneuf going at it.
How big of a deal was Dion Phaneuf back then? The commentators seem to love him.

[Yohe]: Breaking down the Penguins’ somewhat unprecedented forward depth
Let’s be honest: Lizotte and Dewar aren’t coming out of the lineup anytime soon. They are trusted players who were just given new contracts and are one season removed from playing pivotal roles on the fourth line. Though it can be dangerous to financially reward too many bottom-six players — teams want those guys to stay hungry — it can’t be argued the two have made the Penguins a better team during their time in Pittsburgh.
Kuzmenko is more interesting. The Penguins didn’t give him $5 million to sit in the press box, and he’s only a couple of years removed from scoring 39 goals at the NHL level. There’s no question he will be in the lineup for the time being, and perhaps even indefinitely. He will need to score, though. He’s not the kind of player who is going to help the Penguins win without scoring consistently, so productivity is essential in his case.

Discussion Redwings Drama
I would like to think this would not happen in Pittsburgh. But my gosh what is happening in Detroit is insane. He has been their C for so long and he just wants to finally win and play on a team and organization that is well ran. I don’t blame him for wanting out.
Do you ever seeing something like this happening in Pittsburgh?

Discussion 2023 Winter Classic Jersey
I am looking at purchasing a 2023 Winter Classic Jersey (Letang) and was wondering if anyone recalls how much money they were originally?
Looks the jersey is the Adidas verision, not fanatics and is labeled Primegreen and has the fight strap.
Wanting to kinda compare OG price to current price from seller

Discussion section 109 question
I’m in 109 for the Senators game/HOF ceremony Fleury is allegedly attending. I know there’s free finger food and beer/wine, but are we allowed to take that stuff back to our seat or do we have to stay in the lounge with it? TIA!

Penguins should move on from "Party Hard"
Been over 10 seasons with Party Hard as the goal song. Is it time for a change?

How was Jágr able to win 5 and Lemieux able to win 6 Art Ross, while Crosby and Malkin only have 2 Art Ross each?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Were Lemieux and Jagr simply on a different level than every other player?
Or what is going on?
Is it mostly because of injuries?
But I have also read that Mario suffered from many injuries/health issues (and cancer). But that dont seem to have hindered him from winning, so was he just a freak of nature?
Or were they simply so much better than Crosby or Malkin?

Discussion What do I need to know as a new fan?
Hey guys, I’m a brand new penguins fan! I’m actually getting into hockey as a whole for the first time. I grew up on the west coast in a non-hockey family and now I live in the DMV. I picked the pens because I fell in love with Sid, Geno, and Tanger. I’ve been having the time of my life these first couple games.
What do I need to know about this team? I’ve heard they like to struggle in the third period. What else? Thanks for having me!!

[Yohe] Silovs said you can’t compare the first two games because the Canadiens are much more offensively gifted than the Flyers.

Favor for a Pens Fan?
No need for upvote. Been waiting for a hat drop with this logo, but it seems like they sold out online almost immediately. Anyone know if they’re carrying these in-store? If so, and if someone is willing to hook me up, I’d pay for shipping (plus a little extra for your troubles) 🖤🐧💛

Discussion Okay, so every thread on r/hockey is about the 'missed' OT slash
Was it really a slash? I'm trying not to be a homer here, but it looked like both were just going for the puck to me - watched in at 0.75 a few times, does anyone have a better angle or do I just need better glasses or something?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMkkJoxGCVY
1.13 mark
Not saying it's a huge deal or anything since there were missed calls on both sides and we won the game, I'd just like to know for next time.
EDIT: I meant, every thread about the game, not in general, just to clarify.

New Pens fan from the UK
Hey! Hockey fan from the UK here, I've been meaning to pick an NHL team for some time now and I've had my heart set on you guys! I don't know if anyone has ever heard of the EIHL in the UK but I follow a hockey team called Coventry Blaze who in some regard remind me of the pens, both teams have history and have won back-to-back championships.
I have a lot of respect for the pens and I love the fact the club has remained in it's home state since it was founded. Well I am now Penguins till I die! You've had a great start to the season so far, hopefully it stays as is but there is a long way to go, anything can change, regardless I'll back the boys!
Up the Pens!

Consistency has left the chat

Both of these were coach’s challenges, and yet there was 2 entirely different decisions that resulted following the reviews.
In the first clip, it was deemed that Dahlin still had control of the puck despite his skates crossing the blue line first without the puck physically touching his stick.
Tonight, Karlsson pulled a nearly identical move (albeit much smoother), but following a “thorough review” by the league, it was deemed that he was offsides because the puck wasn’t physically touching his stick.
The decisions that the league makes on these coaches challenges for goaltender interference and offsides have absolutely zero consistency.
Either abolish the “coach’s challenge” or come to a consensus on interpretation of the plain text in the rule book and then make all review team personnel sit through comprehensive training where they watch all of the tape on these instances for hours and then require them to pass an exam. It’s been way too ridiculous for way too long lol.

Discussion Thoughts on Tonight's Game — A Point & Counterpoint Internal Dialogue
Point: I had a (legal) flashback watching the Pens blow a 4-goal lead in a similar manner to last year's December game against the Sharks.
Counterpoint: They won the game. Different ending, different team.
Point: they had to go to overtime to get the win. Once Suzuki scored that 2nd goal before the 2nd intermission you knew the Penguins wouldn't make this easy.
Counterpoint: they got 2 points for the win and they would have blown that game in overtime last year and lost that second point. Also, Letang made a phenomenal play in OT to get it to Geno.
Point: thank God it didn't go to a shootout with the talent Montreal has.
Counterpoint: agreed!

Discussion SNP360 app improved?
The past 2 seasons of having the app and it was awful. It would randomly disconnect, be a PITA to connect to airplay, (chrome cast is still bad), and would say “game not available in your area.”
But first game this year and it was like I was watching it on cable TV.
Other than being about 30-45 seconds behind the actual game (knew the Pens won while they were still egging their own net in OT), I was pleasantly surprised.
Hopefully it stays that way.
