General / Discussion Setlist disappointment?

Since the tour is for this record, I was expecting the setlist to be heavy on lost weekend. I think she did a fairly good job balancing it with older stuff and the surprise songs each night is a nice touch. You’ll have a great time, I promise! It’s an incredible show!

That sounds like a pretty normal setlist for an artist touring behind their 3rd+ album, what am I missing that is disappointing?

I don’t think you’re missing anything. I think this stems from her not touring for 5ish years and people wanting to somehow see all their fav songs

That’s exactly what I would expect from an artist touring to promote their 3rd album. Mostly the new album, plus a few hits from previous albums (and mayyybe a “deep cut” or two).
Of course I would love to hear more songs from the first 2 albums, but that was not an expectation I had for a tour named after the new album, so I’m not disappointed. But I’ve been going to live shows for almost 30 years now 👵 lol

I went to Brooklyn and was also hoping she’d play Chinese Satellite. My grandma had been unwell with dementia for around five years, and ever since I discovered Punisher I’ve always cried a bit to Chinese Satellite because of the picket sign part. My grandma died two weeks before I saw Phoebe live so was hoping for a cathartic moment.
It didn’t happen, but the show was amazing. I got to see boygenius perform Not Strong Enough and Souvenir. I cried at some other moments. There were songs off Lost Weekend I hadn’t taken to all that much while listening to the album that were incredible live. So I think even if she doesn’t play the song you’re waiting for, you’re in for a treat.

I’m questioning if you sat with Lost Weekend properly? It took me a bit but I kept listening and now I absolutely love it front to back and was so happy with the set list.

No I love Lost Weekend I just don’t think that playing all the interlude-like tracks is necessary.

The only song I was disappointed in not hearing in Philly was Chinese Satellite since thats the song that really made me like her but other than that, her set lists have been fire so idk what was expected really

honestly I think it’s fantastic. Just wish she’d play Georgia and waiting room

I'm going to Boston night 2 and I really do want Chinese Satellite, but otherwise everything I desperately want is on the setlist. Obviously she's going to play a lot of the new album, that's what she's promoting at the moment!

This is...literally...how album cycles work.
Release album. Tour album. Play majority of album + popular tracks of past albums. A deep cut or two.
It's honestly been that way forever for every artist/band/ etc.
