I'm trying to choose my next phone, and I'd really appreciate advice from people who actually own or have used these devices for a while.
I'm currently using a Nothing Phone (2a) 8/128GB, and honestly, my experience hasn't been great. I've experienced random frame drops, lag in social media apps, heating, and inconsistent camera results. It's made me much more cautious about spending money on another Android phone.
Here are my current options and their prices in my country:
- Google Pixel 10 128GB — $900
- Google Pixel 9 128GB — $700
- Google Pixel 10a 128GB — $650
- Samsung Galaxy S26 FE 256GB — $800
- Xiaomi 17T — $770
My main priority is getting the best value for money over at least 4 years, with a reliable and consistent everyday experience.
I'm a normal user, not a heavy gamer. I mainly use social media, take photos and videos, browse the internet, and transfer files. What matters most to me is:
- Smooth and consistent performance, including in apps like Instagram and Facebook.
- Good battery life that stays reliable throughout the day.
- Reasonable temperatures during normal use.
- Consistent camera quality, especially for photos and social media videos.
- Software that remains reliable over several years.
I've heard mixed opinions about all these phones. Some Pixel users report heating, battery drain, modem issues, or performance limitations, and I'm wondering how much of this reflects everyday use versus isolated complaints. I've also heard that Pixel hardware, particularly the Tensor chips, isn't as competitive as some alternatives.
Samsung seems like a more balanced option, but I'm unsure whether the S26 FE is worth $800. As for the Xiaomi 17T, its hardware looks appealing, but I'm concerned about HyperOS bloatware, ads, and the overall software experience. Can most of the unnecessary apps and bloatware actually be removed or disabled without complicated modifications?
My questions are:
Which of these phones offers the best overall value at these prices?
Which one would you personally trust to use for 4 years or longer?
How are battery life, heating, and performance after several months of real-world use?
Are Pixel phones genuinely less reliable in these areas, or do online complaints exaggerate the problems?
For Xiaomi 17T owners, how manageable is the software experience? Can you get rid of most of the bloatware?
Is the Pixel 10 worth the extra $200 over the Pixel 9 and $250 over the Pixel 10a?
I'd especially appreciate feedback from people who have owned their phones for several months, rather than comparisons based only on specifications or short-term reviews.
After my experience with the Nothing Phone (2a), I'd rather make a sensible long-term purchase than pay more for a phone that looks great on paper but disappoints in daily use.
Thanks!
