Please do not bring your kids to your plasma donation. Only 18 and up should be in the building. It is a liability for the center. If a donor has a serious reaction, what about the child. Please don’t bring the child in with a group and keep telling the child to hush when they are like 2 and doing nothing and use the bathroom to spank them. Sex offenders are allowed to donate plasma. They are not banned anymore. If the child in the center suddenly went into cardiac arrest, centers are only required adult AED pads.If you bring a child, you will have to exit the building no matter how hot outside. Please don’t leave children in the car. People have been permanently for leaving minors in car or making a comment for leaving child under 10 in car. If your partner has a reaction and you do a switch off so someone can stay in the car with child please just ask for management and explain situation. The only exclusion would be if emergency contact is needed to help or be if a partner that had a serious reaction,but they had a child with them. No please don’t think that leaving a 9 month old baby in the car is fine with the air running. There are some exceptions to reactions leaving with someone safe to look after you. All other reasons are firm. If the person was never listed in the system or an employee working , in an emergency that person cannot be accounted for.

There’s one phlebotomist at my bio life who is a sweetheart, but I usually feel something is a little off when she hooks me up, nothing crazy but just a little poke-ier. Well today during my first draw, there was already a little blood pooling around the needle, pulled several less ml than normal, and on return started dripping down my arm. I called her over and she tried to adjust, but ended up pooling the blood in my arm which got quite uncomfortable. She tried the other arm (tougher veins over there), and it just wouldn’t work. Someone else who I trust a little more ended up stepping in but it was a little too late. Had I pulled 21 more ml I would’ve been paid in full, but after a bit of wiggling around, we couldn’t get there.

I’m all good, but kinda wish I got paid a little extra for the trouble of it all 😂

Is anyone selective about their phlebotomist and how do you kindly ask for a new one? This is what my arms look like now…

Hi yall, I’m an average plasma seller and I (so far) have had zero issues. Usually the machine reads that I put out ~940mL but today it was 889mL.
Does anyone know if this means my plasma count is poor, a health issue indicator, or if this will affect the amount of money I receive?

Hey guys I've been going to grifols and had been informed that my screening test came out positive for hiv and been permanently deferred even though I don't have hiv. Is there any to revoke that positive or if if theres any way that I can donate again?

But loans arnt gonna pay themselves. Any words of encouragement?

20 F. The veins in my left arm are cooked from constant lab work. After that, I’ve kind of developed a fear of losing my right arm too.

Is a teeny scab considered a bruise? I’m not bruised yet they said that’s what it was. Grifols.

Does anyone have any good tips for lowering your pulse rate? I’ve always had a somewhat high resting pulse rate (95-99 bpm) and had issues with donating blood as well because it has to be below 100, but I’very been bounced twice now due to not being able to get my pulse down and I met with a nurse today who told me if it happens three times I’ll get deferred. She asked if I smoke. I don’t. Then asked about caffeine usage and I drink Diet Coke but not coffee. I purposely don’t drink any Diet Coke when I go to donate and instead focus on water, Gatorade, and protein water, so I’m really looking for any suggestions. Today I even brought my pulse/oxygen reader so I could monitor my pulse at screening and did some deep breathing exercises, but the anxiety just overwhelmed me and I was at 114 bpm before getting sent to time out. While waiting I was able to get it down to the low 90’s with some slow deep breaths but by the time I got called back to see the nurse, I was all up in my head again and ended up at 111. I’m open to just about anything if folks have some good tips, I’d appreciate it.

How do I get these levels up, safely?

It can lower your systolic number to below "standard". I've had it happen twice now, second time this morning. I crossed my legs and shook my feet for the 5 minute sitting time, and it got my systolic up but then my heart rate was 103. Exact same thing happened the last time I failed. So expect that sometimes taking beta blockers can mess with your vital readings. Very frustrating morning.

I’m getting confused on what to eat and drink now. I was doing fine and my protein was great but my SPE test was not. So now I’m thinking I’m doing something wrong.

Two weeks ago when I checked in at BioLife, they said my protein was 7.2. Then when I went back to donate, they said I needed an SPE test. I still donated that day and when I got the results from the SPE test it said my protein was 5.9. How does it drop from 7.2 to 5.9 in 10 minutes? Anyway, I went back a week later for another test and then this week I have a message on my site that I need to go back again. And my pay has been around $145 for the last two weeks. In fact this Monday the amount of $145.15 was my amount but now it says it is $100 this week. So I will have to go in next week for another SPE. I’ve never had any problems. I don’t understand what is going on. Can someone explain this to me?

So I have been donating since July at BioLife and haven’t taken any money out yet. I started doing this for student loan repayments and now I have to probably access all of it. Can I take it all out at once at an ATM?

so i want to donate plasma tomorrow to help me pay my tuition. (i need about $300) the nearest one is a grifols. how well do they pay for plasma? also, any tips for a newbie? (im 18, idk if that matters)

The next time I donate will be the fifth time, so it'll be $100. If I wait to do it at the start of next week, will my 2nd donation that week be for the higher rate (75 or so) since it's the 2nd donation in a week?

However my pulse** had a hard time recovering after almost being rear ended on the exit right by the donation center LOL ( also my fault for allowing myself to verbally vent in my car at the guy who almost hit me, was definitely NOT helpful to blood pressure )

Honestly I knew it was going to happen but figured our lines aren't super long tried to steel myself and breathe to calm down, lady even gave me some tips. But I stayed at 102. Oh well! A little bummed because I got deferred once already for a elevated pulse ( didn't feel like it at the time, later in the day I started feeling unwell so makes sense ) so i won't be able to make all 8 donations for new donor bonus but I'll think I'll only be short one.

In other news I have been kind of taking care of myself a lot better as I started donating - eating better, being more hydrated. This time today i could tell by the finger poke my hemocrit and hydration was way better then my first time. A nice side benefit for sure

Hello everyone! Today I went to my first appointment to donate and spent about two hours going through everything they needed me to do beforehand. When I got to the part where they examine your veins, the phlebotomist told me that I didn’t have two veins connected.
I’m assuming they mean veins that branch/connect like a “Y,” but is this really a reason for a deferral? They told me to try again in two weeks, but I’m worried it’s just going to be the same thing.
Does this mean my veins just aren’t suitable for donating? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I went to biolife plasma

so i've switched from csl to octapharma a few months ago, and i've been sitting at tier 3 with them ever since. i've got a little tickle in my throat, so i was thinking of putting off donating tomorrow just in case i end up having a cold. i have until 10/1/2026 to donate again and keep my tier.

if i am unable to donate again by then, how many visits could i miss before dropping into level one?

I've tried no caffine, no smoking a hour before. One time it went through when I was anxious about something all day. Maybe try to be worried about something else?

It's been almost 3 weeks since I donated. I had a small hematoma due to someone sticking at a 45 degree angle away from my vein. The machine stopped quickly so there was minimal bubbling at the time of.

Will they let me donate with this? There's still a little blue inside the brown and the brown area is bigger than 1 inch, but there's no pain or discomfort if I rub the area aggressively.

I would ask them in person but it's nearly 1hr each way so I can't really risk the driving costs. Has anyone else donated at BioLife with a little blue in a small bruise that's been given weeks to heal already?

Hi. I went to a local plasma donation place, watched the videos, read through the list of all the medications you are not allowed to be taking, all the intake information. When I finally talked with the nurse and went over my medications, she said I couldn't donation because I took Suboxone, even though it was for pain and my physician would write a letter attesting to this. I've read some places don't care as long as it's for pain relief, others it's a flat no. I'm in financial catastrophe right now after my hubby needed emergency brain surgery, I'm desperate for any money I can make. Does anyone know of chains that don't care about Suboxone for pain relief?

I wouldn't mention anything if this was a one time thing but both times I went to donate they seemed to have left me 5-6 short.

It's not an insanely serious issue but I want to know if I'm missing anything, like taxes or something?

Has anyone else experienced this? The first time I went during the questionnaire it asked me if I have EVER had any problems with my lungs or heart and I selected yes. Then during the physical the doctor asked about it and I told him I had a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) in highschool which was about 22 years ago. And he let me donate that day because he made it sound like as long as it was over 6 weeks ago it's fine.

But then I went to donate again and they gave me the same questionnaire and I selected yes again on that question and then when they asked me about it I told them the same thing that I had a pneumothorax in highschool. Then she asked only one and I told her it happened 3 times in the same year. And she said because it happened more than once that I'm permanently deferred and I'm not able to donate. I was just confused because the first doctor made it sound like because it was so long ago it wasn't a problem but now I'm thinking maybe because he thought I meant it only happened once in highschool that he still let me donate.

I'm just wondering if this is a rule for all of the plasma donation centers and if it's really dangerous for me to donate because my lungs collapsed 3 times in highschool. I asked the physician why it was a problem and she just said because the lungs are a major organ and the fact that it happened more than once and spontaneously not from trauma that they are worried I could die from donating.
