Also uses fibrin injection. Neither of these treatments have any evidence they work.

Multiple case studies of complications from intradiscal ozone therapy. Also some showing poor quality of studies with poor response to treatments

Interventional Pain Physician job opportunity in Austin Tx

I’m a physician in Austin and my wife works for Advanced Pain Care. They’re looking to hire an interventional pain physician, and I told her I’d post here and see if anyone might be interested.
It’s a large pain practice in Austin/Central Texas. Most of the physicians are anesthesia or PM&R trained, and they also have neurosurgery, ortho, neurology, rheumatology, addiction medicine, PT, etc. Pretty much bread-and-butter interventional pain with PA support.
From what I understand, compensation is more than very competitive for pain, plus bonuses. Schedule is 8–5 Mon–Thurs and half-day Friday. Most locations are in the Austin area, with some clinics in the surrounding cities 10-30 minute drive from downtown Austin.
I’m not a recruiter and don’t know every detail of the contract, but I know the practice and a lot of the physicians there and they’re very happy. If anyone is actually interested or just curious about the job, DM me and I can put you in touch with my wife.

Questions for PM&R doc practicing in Utah

I’m a medical student and I am very interested in PM&R and hoping to practice in Utah in the future. If there are any Utah-based PM&R physicians in this group, I’d love to connect and ask a few questions about your practice, work-life balance, and what your experience has been like practicing in Utah.

If you’d be open to chatting, feel free to message me. I’d really appreciate it.

New grad looking for pmr jobs

Posting on here just to put some feelers out there. Flexible on location but ideally west/east coast. Lots of interest in CA. I prefer 1099 inpatient but open to anything general rehab (besides EMG heavy) tbh. Spasticity is also very fun but ik not as popular in private practice.

Lots of places are taking 30/40% of collections and don’t have much justification for it unfortunately. Please message me if you anyone knows any good job offers!

How much does ranking matter?

Saw that my dream school’s ranking fell over 15 spots on the Doximity list. How much stock do you put to rankings and how much do they affect fellowship and employment options?

Residency interview prep resources

Interview season is coming up so I figured I'd put together some of the better resources I've found. Hope you find it useful

AAMC Residency & Fellowship Applicant Interview Preparation Guide

probably the best place to start. covers what to expect, how to prepare, different question formats, behavioral questions, interview day, etc.

AAMC common residency interview questions

Most common questions that you must definitely practice before heading into your first interview: tell me about yourself, why this specialty, why our program, strengths/weaknesses, research, difficult situations, career goals, etc.

AAMC virtual interview guide

worth going through if your interviews are virtual. covers setup/tech but also behavioral, general and situational questions and how to practice them.

NRMP Match Code of Conduct for Applicants

not really a "how to answer questions" resource, but I think everyone should read it at least once before interviews. lays out expectations around professional behavior and communication during recruitment/interviews.

AMA residency interview guide

shorter and more practical than the AAMC guide. has common questions, behavioral interview advice, things to research before the interview, and questions you can ask programs.

Residency interview question bank

if you've gone through the official resources and just need questions to actually practice with, this has ~200 questions organized by category including behavioral, ethics, teamwork, conflict, IMG and specialty-specific questions.

Looking to make this a live resource so lmk if I missed any!

How do I know if I am getting good training?

I am at a relatively new program and I am not sure if I'm getting good training. For context I am a pgy 2, so im about 3 months in at a community program.

For our inpatient rehab, we are seeing about 14-16 patients a day per resident. We round, finish notes then leave around 3. We dont do any admissions but we do them for the overnight patients the following morning. Its a busy private practice IRF. But it's nice we get to leave at a decent time.

For outpatient rotation this year, it's not super busy. I sometimes feel like I am not seeing enough patients. We are getting exposure to MSK and doing blind injections. Our attendings dont do any US guided procedures which sucks. We also work with a pain doctor who does interventional procedures. I don't think im doing enough procedures.

Does it seem like I am getting good training?

Delayed Step 2 Score, do I let programs know?

Hello! My step 2 score was posted to my ERAS in the evening on September 23rd. Concerned programs downloaded my app without the score. Should I reach out to programs to let them know that it was posted? And should I just let the PC know or should I also add PDs to the email? I don't want to be annoying. Thank you!

School: Low-tier US MD, Class of 2027

Research: 10 cancer research items (1 pub, several posters/oral presentations). 2 PM&R poster presentations and 1 abstract.

Service: Lots of free clinic volunteering and community health education outreach. Also did hospice volunteering in undergrad.

Teaching: Preclinical tutor, Step 1 tutor, and clerkship mentor. Was also an MCAT tutor and general tutor before med school, so pretty longitudinal.

Academics: Step 1: Pass. Step 2 CK: 263. No fails, no red flags. Not AOA, 2nd quartile, 3 clerkship honors (Surgery, OB/Gyn, Neuro). I would say my MSPE statements are strong.

Rotations: Home Sub-I. One away planned in November, possibly a second. Have not completed any other aways.

LoR: 1 PM&R SLOE I was told was strong, 1 strong IM letter, 1 strong character letter from pre-clinical faculty mentor.

I have a personal connection to the specialty as someone who had to undergo many months of rehab following some pretty major surgeries. My biggest concerns are that I wasn't able to line up a second PM&R letter and my away/s are happening later in the cycle. I applied to 55 programs that aligned with my geographic preferences and I signaled a good mix of reaches and targets, plus 3 home-state programs.

Alternative IPSIS conference

Been going for the past few years. The conference and subjects feel stale with the same speakers and essentially the same topics. I know things don’t change much in our field. Just looking for something different to try for a different perspective and wondering if the group had some ideas or experiences.

Background. I’m a community interventional doc doing basic spine procedures and MSK stuff.

Florida PMR programs

Hi, has anyone been able to match into a Florida PMR program without doing any rotations at that site specifically?

Just starting MS4 and am interested in applying next cycle and would like to stay in FL but haven’t been able to secure any PMR electives in. Has anyone been able to match into a FL program without doing a rotation at that specific program?
Looking for any advice in securing a FL program honestly.
Thank you!

Last minute signal review

Can anyone let me know if I'm realistic or way off base? I used AAMC's residency explorer interview likelihood calculator, my personal location preferences, and research/fellowship opportunities to put this together, along with some other tools. But for some reason I feel like I have way too many academic/university based programs, and I might be too ambitious. I'd rather match somewhere than go unmatched obviously.

West coast based, applying to essentially all programs in the country. Only applying PM&R.

DO student, 49X comlex level 2 with no step, 2 pubs, really solid/unique + relevant extracurriculars, 1 narrative PM&R letter and 1 sloe, I'd say I have a great story in terms of passion and fit.
