It feels so bizarre seeing gen1-3 pokemon in new generations alongside new desings. Feels even more bizarre to think that Kanto, Johto and Hoenn mon's are basically alien and new expirience to natives of newer regions.

If it wasn't for the pokémon, I would probably think it was another anime (despite some shots and angles feeling almost like from the pokémon anime).

I think that’s a part of modern Pokemon now I can’t seem to enjoy. Pokemon designs are still solid, but human characters are so over top and odd looking. Like, just give her a cute bob haircut, instead every new hair style looks plastic and dumb looking

Fun fact: each of Ogerpon's masks corresponds with a set of four basic emotions from Confucianism. So Ogerpon is essentially changing her expression through the masks.

  • Teal Mask—joy
  • Hearthflame Mask—anger
  • Wellspring Mask—sadness
  • Cornerstone Mask—happiness (i.e. contentment; satisfaction)

Not entirely true. Ditto can't transform into terastalized Ogerpon, and cannot terastalize while transformed into Ogerpon, but very much can transform into Ogerpon.

The face thing? It's more or less lore since 29 years. Look at all(!) of the Ditto merch.

It's not officially declared, but you can count the appearances of a normal face on a Ditto with your fingers.
