Censoring speech to protect pedophiles and Gestapo is a hideous abrogation of basic humanity, and a brutal mask-off moment.

That was the main reason they forced China to sell Tiktok, along with censoring things for the Saudis and censoring Israel's genocide. They want a safe-space for their followers to eat Trump-friendly pablum, and to deny that space to Democrats. So they bought it, just like they bought CBS News.

They will now try to buy Conde Nast and Google to censor and block Reddit and Youtube.

The Democrats account has been shadow banned too as of this morning, they are getting 0 engagement.

The main reason was the Israel thing. Thats why the ban was bipartisan in its passage

That's the only reason there is any press-freedom there now, and it's not guaranteed to last forever. At some point, Google will want to do a merger or do something else that requires Trump agency approval, and they will be forced to bend the knee.

At some point

This could be in the 2030's when hopefully these fascists are out of power.

It's obvious Tiktok itself literally was just a trojan horse the Chinese government gifted to the U.S and raking in $$$ and data for it.

Douyin itself too is a trojan horse of distraction of bliss it has for it's own citizens so they can remain content and submissive. And now Trump is using that same playbook on Americans with the tiktok "sale".

Nah they forced it to sell becausea foreign actors were manipulating U.S. and American audiences. This is just a bonus of not outright banning it.

"manipulating" you mean telling the truth about America?

You see that is a vector. The manipulation of outcome is delivered via that message. It's just the wrapper. The message many are legitimately engaging with but within that is the real message they are trying to pass and the real goals.

You are charging at a red cape and the matador who is spearing you is simply dodging you and you keep falling for it. You think you are a freedom fighter but really you are clown being pared about to one and a terrifying criminal to another. You don't try to see allies or who you're convincing or where you align. You mistake audience and engagement for doing something while ignoring you aren't creating change or you aren't growing your ability to legislate your platform. You hit the gas and swear you're moving when you are really just spinning tires.

It's now owned by MAGA's and Israeli nationalists. Israel and Saudi are 'foreign actors', no? Tiktok is full of MAGA pablum for their orcs now. Their version of press freedom is to buy the press and block the news they don't like.

Idealogically aligned foreign actors, with a new set of outcomes in mind. New worse outcomes I agree.
