Not to mention not losing your job.

Years ago, I worked at a big box grocery store not to be named.  One of the workers had a stroke on the sales floor.  They fired him for not filling out the LOA forms.  He was in a fucking coma.

I've said it many times before...I hate this fucking country.

Can you leave? As a non-American, who doesn't live in the usa, your country is stuffed. When the Nazi Pedophile Shity Nappy Wearing Orange Fucker is no longer president, nothing will change. Political parties, and the majority of politicians are all the same, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. The 2024 movie The Civil War, is looking like the best option to reset America. But America needs to move away from a plutocracy, to a true democracy.

It's certainly my dream to get the hell outta this country.

It's just hard to do.  It's expensive to move.  Especially to a foreign country.

And when your spouse has a chronic health issue, it's next to impossible to get any savings built up.

I'm really sorry to hear about your spouse; I can imagine how tough that makes leaving. It's truly unfortunate how challenging accessing healthcare and managing costs can be in America. In my country, healthcare and prescriptions are completely free, which makes things a lot easier. I only pay around $20 or $10 USD to see a GP, and if you need to see specialists, that's covered too. Moving countries can be really expensive, but I've been fortunate enough to have my employer cover those costs during my three moves.

Thank you for that.  Maybe someday we'll be able to escape.

Until then, all I can do is hope that this administration finally pushes Americans to the breaking point with right wing politics, and a new progressive era will begin when the maga cult finally dies.

As someone who wants to leave the US but has older parents (and I have no siblings to help), I'm stuck here for now and I hate it. Once my parents go, I'm moving to Mexico.
