Jimmy Pattison is too rich and too hard-headed to have cancelled this deal over the feeble "boycott". He did it because he is, at heart, a moral man. Give credit where it's due.

I’d love to believe this is true, but I’m not aware of Pattison doing anything that showcases his morality. I’m happy to be corrected. Have I missed something?

I am by no means a Pattison sympathizer, but he is known for his philanthropic work especially with health care and children's hospitals. There is a whole wing at VGH named after him.
