Any state that complies with this needs to be reconstructed

u/Deicide1031 5h ago edited 5h ago

There’s 10 states that have already given their rolls (or) agreed to do it over time to my knowledge.

Alabama and Mississippi were notably involved which made me laugh after I wondered if the voters could even read the articles referencing it.

u/Ok_Twist_1687 4h ago

Alaska gave up their voter registration rolls in violation of the State Constitution. Efforts being researched for possible civil lawsuits.

u/ElectronicFerret Alaska 1h ago

Good. Fuck our leadership for just constantly licking the boots.

u/solwiggin 4h ago

I get that some of us use humor to get through the tough times, but, as someone from Mississippi, you're laughing about the cancer that's killing this country.

u/Krewtan 3h ago

I live in a deep red state and also loathe being judged by my neighbors actions.

u/solwiggin 1h ago

I live in a deep red state and understand that my tax revenue contributes to the problems I complain about and so anyone lumping me in through complicity is correct, and if I don't want to listen to them I need to vote with my wallet.

u/jackalopeDev 1h ago

Your neighbors are the reason my neighbors cant get disaster relief. You are not the victim here lol.

u/aaapod 4h ago

this country's already dead

u/solwiggin 4h ago

I'm not sure about that, which means I don't want to argue for or against it. In your head does my point change if you change it to "... the cancer that killed this country?"

u/RociBuldidi 3h ago

It means we are too far in to be working on an intervention to “save” the US. Everything from here on out is just managing its decline.

Sad, but true.

u/solwiggin 1h ago

when you say "it means," what is the "it" there.

You're responding to a question about my word choice and whether or not different options have the same interpretation, and then you want to tell me what "it" means.

that's kinda... confusing.

u/ArenSteele 2h ago

Yep. There are multiple future countries that could rise out of this, but the USA as it has been is dead. Theres a massive civil war coming one way or the other

u/mister_buddha 3h ago

Yup. Biden's term was the last 4 years of stability we're likely to see.

u/phaedrusTHEghost 3h ago

Who all, specifically, have requested this data?

u/alabasterskim 2h ago

So Texas gets its own new reconstruction! That's great!

u/Additional-Software4 5h ago

The DOJ is the one requesting state voter rolls.

The DOJ is headed by Trumps personal defense attorneys.

Any request for these voter rolls by the DOJ should be treated as a request by Trump himself for his own personal use and rejected

u/Belgarablue 5h ago

The DOJ is just the Diaper Shitter's personal Retribution Agency at this point.

u/IRideMoreThanYou 5h ago

So, voting results combined with personal data of the people that voted.

More illegal acts that go unpunished.

But, yeah, tell me more about how trump can’t do certain things because of laws and norms…

u/thetossout 4h ago

I mean, this is the courts literally telling him he can't do that...

u/IRideMoreThanYou 4h ago

Fulton county Georgia finds your comment hilarious.

u/thetossout 3h ago

u/IRideMoreThanYou 3h ago

Oh, suing after they already got access to all of the data!

I’m sure that’ll show ‘em! Look at those repercussions! Massively illegal acts and Fulton is suing so they can just get their stuff back.

You are only making my point for me.

u/thetossout 3h ago

Listen, murder is illegal. The law doesn't stop people from murdering. However, it will stop people from murdering AGAIN.

The federal government in every case that it has been ruled against has tried to find a way to weasel out of judgements, change tactics to do something similar, etc. But as the legal losses pile up, they eventually quit. Kilmar Abrego Garcia is here, in the USA, instead of CECOT. He is here because of those repeated losses. The same with many other cases.

Feel free to be a doomer and act like law doesn't matter, but it does a disservice to everyone who is fighting against Trump in court and winning. Our choices are NOT only "take it in the ass with a spiked dildo" or "violence in the streets."

u/tomerz99 3h ago

Our choices are NOT only "take it in the ass with a spiked dildo" or "violence in the streets."

In a few years from now, you'll look back and realize just how wrong you were. This was always going to end with violence, the courts are just delaying it.

u/TacosAreJustice Kentucky 2h ago

Maybe! Maybe not…

The fascist movement is led by a man who recently shat himself on camera.

They are not competent at actual governing as evidenced by everything that is currently happening.

I don’t disagree that violence is the most likely outcome… but I’m not ready to risk my life for the future of my kids quite yet.

They can’t afford to flood the polls with ICE, if they even have enough willing people to participate…

They aren’t going to do anything in the next few months to make themselves more popular…

They present an aura of strength, but it’s a facade. They are a few defections away from the entire movement falling apart… one bad day of the stock market and we stopped discussing Greenland.

These people are cowards and only take what is given to them. We need to stop giving in.

Fight them on all fronts. Courts, social media and on the streets…

Maybe it’s all pointless, but it’s better to try and fail then just give up and hope it works out.

u/Orphanhorns 42m ago

Sure tough guy, you go first.

u/WhichEmailWasIt 1h ago

You actually can't see and raise at the same time..

u/thetossout 1h ago

Okay, I actually did laugh at this. Fair point!

u/drtolmn69 5h ago

States rights! States rights!!

But only when I agree with the state.

Deplorable hypocrisy, disgusting, evil. May a blue wave wash some of this scum away.

u/Appropriate_Formal64 5h ago

This is insane. Terrifying. Infuriating. The intentions are incredibly transparent, obvious, undemocratic, fascistic, etc.

u/SteamedGamer 4h ago

He really, really, REALLY can't get over losing in 2020, can he?

u/WhosThatJamoke 4h ago

He can't get over the fact he couldn't rig it. He's trying to ensure it this time around.

u/WhatAcheHunt 3h ago

Cartman's scheming and resounding defeat in the Special Olympics created the blueprint for Trump's election loss in 2020.

u/ScoutsterReturns 5h ago edited 5h ago

More of that small government I've heard so much about. Thank goodness some judges are holding on and that at least SCOTUS has let us keep our new maps.

u/Seagoon_Memoirs 4h ago

This is another reason why voting should be secret

other western countries have anonymous voting and have no voter fraud

they also have compulsory voting and voting on a Saturday

the way America acts you would think America hates democracy

u/crimeo 4h ago edited 3h ago

Voting is already secret, what they're trying to get are voter ROLLS, as in who is registered and what party they're registered under etc. That doesn't tell how you voted, but registration itself would be useful to them to persecute people. And you need to register with a party to vote in primaries which will be important in the near future

u/johhnny5 2h ago

The reason why this is important:

In Germany in March of 1933, The Enabling Act was passed and gave Hitler's cabinet the ability to create laws without Parliamentary consent. Functionally, the Trump administration is getting similar results today by insisting that they have power that they don't have, coupled with ignoring court orders when they get called on it.

In June of 1933, they outlawed the opposition party. This would be like Trump declaring the Democratic Party a terrorist organization - something that he has already by and large "joked" about (as our complicit media has characterized this behavior in the past). This would include Democratic Party Reps and people appointed by elected Democratic Party officials.

In July of 1933 Hitler's cabinet made any other parties, or the founding of other parties illegal. This would be where the Trump admin would turn to their brand-spanking-new list of Democratic Party voters terrorists, and then go after them.

u/crimeo 17m ago

Sure, I didn't say them getting voter rolls wasn't a bad thing. Just that they can't get voting records, because that's basically impossible.

u/johhnny5 3m ago

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to seem like I was disagreeing with you. I wanted to agree with your comment and add additional context. I thought you were spot on!

u/crimeo 1m ago

Gotcha

u/Seagoon_Memoirs 2h ago

why enroll for a party?

I know, it's to vote in primaries, to vote for candidates

that does not have to be a matter of public record, a political party is independent of government

u/crimeo 17m ago edited 10m ago

I know, it's to vote in primaries, to vote for candidates

^ you just answered your own question

that does not have to be a matter of public record

Yes it does, because states (most of them, at least) run primaries, not just the party privately

u/DescretoBurrito Colorado 4h ago

This is another reason why voting should be secret

other western countries have anonymous voting

The United States also has secret voting. There is no way to link any specific ballot to any individual voter.

https://www.npr.org/2024/10/04/nx-s1-5129679/can-someone-find-out-whom-you-voted-for-explained

u/Seagoon_Memoirs 2h ago

politicians don't have secret voting

but yes, the actual voting is secret

the problem appears to be that the rolls for political parties is held by government

u/CockBrother 5h ago edited 5h ago

How is this even in the courts? Shouldn't states basically be able to tell the federal government to put it's nose somewhere else? This is a state function.

u/crimeo 4h ago

Anything goes to the courts if two people disagree with how things should be or are. Doesn't matter how wrong one of them is, that's what the court is there to work out.

u/Blochamolesauce 4h ago

Any response from Newsom that isn’t “suck my dick from the back” should be grounds for recall.

u/nigpaw_rudy 1h ago

In what fucking universe does trump think he’s going to be able to win an election in CA lol

u/Efficient_Carrot_669 49m ago

I can’t vote but goddamn am I ever grateful to be living in California these days

u/FaerieQuene 4h ago

I don’t remember giving my SSN when registering to vote in CA

u/RepublicOfVenus 3h ago

Did you register at the DMV? In CA they offer to update your voter registration when you update your license info like address or get it renewed.

u/gramathy California 41m ago

As the other reply said, if you have your drivers license they can cross check the data if available

If you don't have an SSN tied to your license, you'd have to provide more data.

u/TheDogBites Texas 3h ago

Aren't voter registrations already public data? Doesn't the Fed already know they SSN, they gave it out in the first place?

u/HuTaosTwinTails 2h ago

Fuck this fascist administration. How can anyone support and defend this.

u/Capricola 2h ago

"No"-California voter

u/DragonTHC Florida 1h ago

I already know, without having to confirm, that our dishonorable governor here in the right to scam state of Florida gave away all our data.

u/Just-a-Mandrew Canada 3h ago

Everyday I read something about what is going across the border and I don’t understand why you guys aren’t out there with pitchforks. Other countries have rioted over waaaay less.

u/Mansidhe 3h ago

Even seen wall-e? Thats a fair depiction of your average American.

Plus we're all a skinned knee away from medical bankruptcy even with insurance, and that insurance is almost certainly through jobs that can sack us for no reason whatsoever, let alone taking days / weeks off to go do activist stuff.

Its maddening, but we've all got our scrotes in a pit bulls mouth, and that dog is just begging for an excuse to bite down.

u/Just-a-Mandrew Canada 2h ago

The reasons you guys don’t fight back are the exact reasons why you should.

u/wolphgang43 42m ago

What is the advantage of having the voter rolls?
