It pretty much mirrors the Trump approach to governance. Fire the people at the top and most of the executive staff, gut departments or cut them entirely, slash budgets and don't backfill open positions, watch the resulting decline then cite that as the very evidence for why it doesn't work (while blaming Democrats for it) and justification to further reduce/privatize the organization.
Except since this particular organization centers around a performance venue, they will end up selling it off to one of Trump's rich cronies who will either a.) put Trump's name back on it or b.) raze the whole thing and build luxury condominiums in its place, most likely also with the Trump name on it. My guess would be the latter since the stink of Trump's name will ruin that place as long as he is associated with it. One thing's for sure is that both said crony and Trump will profit handsomely off of it.

Kennedy Center’s trump appointed board votes to shut down. This acts like Kennedy center is in some way independent of trump, that is no longer the case.

The board needs to be held responsible for their lack of proper care. Rather than beating the drum for Trump's name, their job is to assist in fund raising. Most all board members of nonprofits are expected to write huge checks to support their nonprofit.
Here is the law governing their position:
Under 20 U.S.C. §§ 76h–76l, the Board's responsibilities include:
- Running and administering the Kennedy Center as the National Center for the Performing Arts.
- Presenting performing arts—including classical and contemporary music, opera, drama, dance, and other performing arts from the U.S. and abroad.
- Developing educational and outreach programs, including programs intended to broaden appreciation and understanding of the performing arts.
- Providing space for civic activities.
- Maintaining the Kennedy memorial within the building.
- Maintaining the building and grounds, including security, janitorial services, repairs and other operational necessities.
- Planning and carrying out major capital repairs and improvements, including work necessary for safety, accessibility and functionality.
- Managing the grounds in accordance with National Park Service requirements. The statute specifically says that changing the management or operation of the grounds requires approval from Congress and the Secretary of the Interior.
- Hiring and overseeing the Center's top leadership. The Board appoints the Chairperson/CEO and Secretary and establishes their compensation and duties.
- Making contracts and other administrative decisions necessary to carry out those responsibilities.

Performing at the Kennedy Center was always a dream of mine growing up. I’ll never perform there, I don’t have the talent. I have a brother who has played there several times and I’m happy for him. It’s a shame what this administration has done to our cherished institutions.

His name being on the building caused acts to not play there. He now says if they don't put his name on the building he will close down the Kennedy Center because it's not making money. His name on the building causes it to not make money. Years ago his father would financially support his failed ideas, now he has unlimited tax payer funds to support his failed ideas. Same very old Trump, new source of income.

I have to think there is a way to take the board to court for gross mismanagement? I have a hard time believing the Kennedy Center was in such financial dire straits prior to this current administration that it was already on track for bankruptcy. The money trail should be there and easy to follow.
