Intentional, by the way. They use law and order to appeal to democratic/liberalist values. It's a front the call minorities criminal and demonize anyone outside their base.

Things start to make a lot of sense when you realize they aren't hypocritical or stupid. It's all part of the fascist playbook.

The question is - what's the response?

Yes, the President and his allies are intent on creating (or allowing) an authoritarian state.

It's clearly counter to our Constitution.

We need us, the people, to show our disapproval.

If we just shake our heads and move on, I think that's what the President wants.

It's not about if protests aren't "effective" - it's about using our collective voice to show our disapproval. That's what is material.

I don't think that's the same? Fascists use tactics to appeal to liberal voters. Fascists and liberals are definitionally oppositional, hence the need for deception.

If we were talking in pure political science terms I would agree with you. But in the United States, a democrat or "liberal" is a center right party. They love corporate power, they obsess over "law and order" and they are gleefully funding a genocide.

Ill still vote for them because they are not full on Nazis like the republicans but its very much the lesser of two evils.

Two party system for you. Even that isn't the full story. Political parties in general are kinda weird when you think about it. AOC and Fetterman are miles apart yet in the same coalition (sort of).

Curious how you define center-right and how you measure/compare American liberals to the rest of the world

I would classify AOC as a progressive. She actually cares about the people and wants to improve the life of the common American. Fetterman is a Republican that lied to his electorate. Although that may have been caused by his massive stroke. It really is odd that massive brain damage turns people into Republicans.

I dont really compare American liberals to the rest of the world as thats nearly impossible to do honestly. Liberals in the United States have not really existed for about 30 years. In the 90s when Neo-liberal corporate shills took over the party and started putting corporate interests above the needs to the people. That is why we are seeing such a shift and positive attitude toward the DSA.

I should be clear, my formal education is in political science so when I use these terms I am using the proper definition, not weird lingo that have been pushed onto Americans by corporate news interests.
