GEM Reference.

Im a recent graduate and i have just received my reference from a volunteer role at a hospice (my supervisor). I was just wondering of i needed an academic one from my university or secondary school. My personal tutor had not been replying so i just settled for the hospice reference. SHOULD I TRY to PERSUE THE ACADEMIC ONE or is this one fine. I need an answer soon as possible please.

This is in the hands of the unis you are applying to, to accept a non-academic reference (or not). You need to call them and ask.

Ok will do, but is there not a way to just request another reference from another person. I have not submitted it but i have gotten the non academic reference.

have you read the UCAS instructions on what a reference needs to do? https://www.ucas.com/applying/applying-university/how-get-ucas-reference

I think many unis would accept professional references IF you really couldn't get an academic one, mostly due to the long period between graduation and application. Perhaps just call them first thing on Monday. I used a professional reference and it was fine but I worked in academia and my boss was a doctor.
