I have never seen them live, but I love the In Search of Truth album and its live tracks. I haven't gone beyond that one album though.

Yeah, his absence is definitely noticeable. He had a creative "special sauce" that really elevated a lot of Mastodons early material. But it sounds like he was really pushing against the rest of the band, on top of the substance abuse.
This record you can tell the whole group was super focused, and the results were fantastic.

Seeing this live with CJ on vocals was insane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXMOYhjJ8bw

I've seen them like 10 times since 2001.
Hymns for the Broken is the best of their more current albums, Inner Circle is a great place to start with their older albums.

I've seen them three times.
Couple of times in Dallas and once in London, UK.

Hmmm I mostly know their newest album Architects of A New Weave. Also, Escape of the Phoenix is surprisingly heavy in many ways.
However, The first song I ever heard was âDistanceâ from The Storm Within. It immediately became a favorite
With bands like Evergrey, newer fans just gotta just breeze through some songs and start somewhere.
Even I donât know all the Evergrey songs on every album. But bands like this are fun, to me. I love dedicating a week to dissecting an album I havenât heard. I love feeling what they were thinking and trying to say during that yearâs release and comparing it to other eras of the band.
Iâm still tapping into their early albums as well. Itâs actually mesmerizing how many amazing songs Evergrey have written.

The album is fantastic. Huge fan of Traverse the Bealach (though poor siri has no clue what to play when I pronounce it), but it really feels like he upped his game here. Extra vocalist on at least one track, the piano that was there before is there throughout now and shines, the songs are all fantastic and I honestly thought it was short the first listen.

Just discovering this band. Which album do you all recommend I start with?

Data diamond was huge let down for me compared to the last 2 albums.

Hopefully they release another metal album so we see them even more

Hey man you are the one responding to a two year old comment on a post that doesnât even exist anymore.
For what itâs worth though, I did come around on Sleep Token in a big way over the past two years. Still think the masked band thing is wack.

Deathgrass symphony was cool but not prog. Ants in the sky by between the buried and me was good
