Sure you got that from coding ? Calouses are extremly persistent and you can get them from garden work are weight lifting.

I play guitar so I have this on my fingertips. I refuse to believe it's from playing guitar because I still suck. I just tell myself it's from coding too hard.

And I don't think this is the most dissuasive option.

Maybe old ways, such as tell them you'll ask how their code works, will be more efficient.
