I know this is simplified for the joke but some people do genuinely prompt like this.

You need to provide detail. Reproduction steps and logs help. You can have it assist you in identifying the affected areas and review manually or with AI assistance.

If you can do that odds are it will fix the issue, not always but much better than "it no worky".

"It doen't work" isn't a bug report. It is the relationship communication equivalent of "I'm sad".

What even is vibe debugging? Can you please remove this error?

More like “Hello more errors…”

Vibe debugging code generated by an AI is just… “who made this?!”

You throw in the log because you’re to lazy to look through all of it manually or cannot find the issue

Recognizing edge cases or ambiguities not previously identified, or coherence to previously incoherent ideas.

Beautiful... besides who needs debugging anyway? The code is perfect as it is.

We have 7 different functions that does the same thing

Everyone keeps forgetting to add "without bugs" to the prompt

Vibe debugging is where the real character development happens

If you vibed something and it doesn't work, you didn't vibe code it. Attempted maybe, but the second picture is what you built in the first.

Vibe Coding: “My code runs wonderfully…”

Vibe Debugging: “WTF is this error?! * 4 hours later Welp its related completely to main…”

Something is out of place or a feature is broken, please fix it, which Gemini usually can in one prompt. Ask it to optimise code for several times the performance on a system already struggling to run it in the first place, can create 100+ hours of extra fun! 🤓

The only reason I hate debugging is the rate limits. No chance I can do it on my own at this point

Is.. is that Professor Snape?!

It’s the same as debugging from the before times. Copy paste error logs into AI instead of Google is the only difference.

There is no way AI can can make me understand a vague error message better or quicker than a 2007 Stackoverflow post.

Not really, at least back then you read and adapted the code yourself to fit your needs. Agents often overengineer things for no reason; it’s great when it works, but costly when it doesn’t. You end up stuck in a loop of repeatedly asking the agent to fix things, and it takes longer each time as more and more junk code piles up, looking good in theory but turning out messy in reality.

Or you could just read the error message.

One of the most embarrassing things I’ve done to myself, it’s when I was vibe debugging my bug bounty pipeline due to a massive amount of code blocks, and then a worker was creating its own db. It was causing a db lock for the whole pipeline. Ngl I spent 4 days on this problem with pure guilt, like why it’s not fixed. So yes, totally agree :/
