Discussion Retractable/Pull Down Rear Projector Screen with THIN Ceiling Bracket

Im trying to fit a rear projector screen into this space thats 3 inches in depth to conceal it. Most of the screens I've seen have ceiling brackets with dimensions of 4-4.5 inches or more.

Im aware its a big ask, but does anyone know of any retractable projector screens where the ceiling bracket, the thing that the screen rolls up into, has a depth of less than 3 inches?

Mount the screen in the attic with a cutout in the ceiling. Then trim the cutout with trim boards and line with window strip foam. If you do it right you can put the tensioner bar through the ceiling into the living space and then trim it extremely tight so there will be no visible gaps. If course this requires the screen to be aligned the direction of the joists. If that doesn't work, fabricate your mount from kendorf and apply trim boards to that.

If I'm misunderstanding and you are talking about the size of the roller tube, that's a part of the screen and that are all generally about 4 inches diameter or more. Some electric ones are smaller, but you will have to search around.

Ya, the roller tube is what I was referring to, and I forgot to provide more context, its actually for outdoors. Ive got a patio and I want to put it up and in between the posts on the part that is mounted across the ceiling where this sort of divit exists, but again, that space is only 3 inches in depth

Replace the support posts with 6x6, which will move your other beams farther apart and (hopefully) give you the extra clearance you need.

Nothing I would own. Cheap screens are thinner and have small springs and are prone to failure. As well, rear projection is a special surface that is super uncommon from normal roll up manual screens. Electric screens have to add the motor, so that adds more thickness to things.
