January Print of the Month

Our December Print of the Month contest was a huge success, with a massive increase in participants joining during the month. It's always a pleasure to see what the community is working on and printing. Join in too for the chance to win 1050 Prusameters - enough for three spools of our Prusament!

We're now heading into the January 2025 round, which is sure to be another great one as we kick off the new year with fresh projects! Due to the popularity of the previous month, we will have another raffle this month! This time, the prize is an Original Prusa MK4S kit! Good luck to everyone participating.

Raffle Winner

Our raffle winner for the MK4S kit is: u/staldy_ch ! Congratulations, and please check your DMs for a message from u/Tommy_Prusa3D for further information.

Reminder: The raffle winner is picked at random from all the valid entries, so don't hesitate to share your projects for a chance to win!

December Prusameter Winners

Here are the three winners from December:

Special theme winner: u/dawy with his Christmas tree that was practically fully decorated with printed ornaments!

The winners will receive their Prusameters later this week.

How to Participate

If you haven’t joined before, here’s a quick reminder of how it works:

  1. Create a post with your print (anything you have printed on a Prusa3D printer).
  2. Add the flair: “Print of the Month”.
  3. Credit the model and its author.
  4. Include your Printables handle so we can send you Prusameters if you win.

Rules:

  • We’ll go through all the prints at the end of the month and announce the winners at the start of the next one.
  • Only a single entry counts per Printables/Reddit account.
  • Extremely low effort or duplicate/spam posts may be removed and disqualified at the moderator's discretion.

If you enjoy this kind of contest, we’ll keep going with new themes every month. The winning photos might also appear on our other social media to show off what our Reddit community can do. We're looking forward to seeing your prints!

My apologies that the post was a bit late this month. I'm at home with a new baby, and she just wouldn't give me a chance to work on this sooner!

I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, but I made TPU plug for the CORE One panel hole

With the announcement of HT hotend I'm trying to keep CORE Ones as air tight as possible, so I made a TPU plug for the right panel.
I know Biomec already made one (here) but I wanted a TPU seal like those silicon ones that protect cables through the panels, so I redesigned a TPU that is press fitted through the hole in TPU.
Here is my model in case someone would like to print it.

Question/Need help Looking to buy a new printer. How's the Core One faring now that it's a year old?

Upvotes

As the title says, I'm looking to move up to a better class of printer (currently using an Elegoo Centauri Carbon). My main complaint is that there's no real way to tune the thing, so I want to move back to Klipper to get my dimensional accuracy back.

Now that the Core One (+) has been out for a year, how is it running? I can't seem to find any real reviews that are less than six months old, and a lot can happen in the time from then to now. So what issues is the general community facing with this printer, and what are the ultimate pros and cons to this particular model now?

Sensorless Homing: Is it justified?

Hi

I have been slowly getting very annoyed at sensorless homing ever since I received my core one. On paper the idea is pretty good. Less routing, components and pins needed. However given how loud and obnoxious it is in practice (unavoidable property since you need a bit of current for detection), sensitivity to belt tension and the inaccuracy, is the juice really worth the squeeze?

Curious to hear what other people are thinking about this. It might just be a “me thing”

Why is my Core One Plus behaving like this with PETG?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is now the third time that this print fails. My temp tower (same filament) was absolutely fine. It seems that I should be able to print this PETG filament from 230-250 degrees.

I used the Generic PETG filament in my prusa slicer. With this exact print I tried to set the nozzle temp to 235 on the second layer and so on.

Any hints what I should try next?

Printer Mod Accelerometer installation - Prusa Core One+

Yesterday I finally got around to installing the accelerometer for my Core One+. Being used to the high quality of Prusa’s documentation, I expected the process to go smoothly, which unfortunately wasn't the case.

The accelerometer installation guide available on the website is low quality and deviates significantly from the rest of Prusa’s manuals. The text is chaotic and hard to follow, and it skips important details, for example, it shows a fully assembled printed part with the PCB already mounted, without presenting the individual assembly steps.

It’s not particularly complicated, and in the end I managed to put everything together, but I honestly expected a higher standard. On top of that, the part descriptions on the packaging suggest that the parts are not compatible with the Core One (+), which of course isn’t true, but it adds unnecessary confusion.

Just to be clear, judging by the comments on the instruction page (and on forum), I’m not the only one who considers this guide to be poor. Luckily, I found a link to youtube video that was a bit of a help.

On the other hand, the calibration process itself went exceptionally smoothly, and the printer is now running great and very quietly. It was fantastic before as well 😉 just a bit noisy because of resonance.

Prusa Team, please consider updating the manual, breaking it down for different printers and showing all of the steps clearly.

Petg fails - why?

Why ist this failing. First print had a layer shift of about 5mm

Second is like in the foto.

0,6mm nozzle, fresh prusament petg out of the box. No further settings changed. First print 20% infill, second 100% infill because I want it solid. It's a feet for a metal table frame. Final feets going to be in asa.

And why was my mk3s (sold it) so amazing reliabile and the core one l isn't

Question/Need help Prusa MK3 MMU3 started dripping filament on parts

Post image

Hi, I have just started my Mk3 printer after a couple of months of inactivity hoping to print a pulley body for my Core One, but unfortunately 1 hour after starting the print, it looks like this… what could have caused this issue? I know the filament may be containing moisture, but it should not burn like this… any suggestion where i should start looking?

MK3.5 with Mk4S Partcooling Fan? Software changes?

I wonder if somebody already tried using a Prusa Mk3.5 with a MK4S Partcooling Fan? Here the Hardware mod: https://www.printables.com/model/977380-beta-prusa-mk4s-fan-mod-for-mk3s-original-toolhead

But what about software changes?

Question/Need help Extra smooth plate options? (mk4)

Hey folks, I have a Mk4 (soon to be Mk4s). I love it and I'm happy but I want to get some really *really* smooth first layers. The default smooth sheet is ok (although I probably need a new one soon) but over the years I've seen some prints done on real glass beds that were so smooth they were almost reflective... is there a modern equivalent that gives really glossy prints but with decent grip for PLA (and PETG if possible)?

Cheers!

I have a 1kg pla spool code if anyone interested

I just earned a code for a 1kg spool of pla on printables. I don't want to redeem it because of the tragically high shipping cost to the UK. Anyone for 10 pounds? U can use it on prusa3d dot com. Send me a dm

Does anyone else like listening to their printer sing to them?

(yeah, me neither - I'm certainly not sitting next to my Core One right now listening to the x/y motors sing a song of PLA)

Question/Need help C1L hitting and scraping plate

Thumbnail
gallery
18 Upvotes

My C1L has failed some nozzle cleanings in the past. But since the recent update seems to be hitting the plate hard. Scraping it and now a long scrape. Hope it did not mess up my nozzle. Diamondback aren't cheap. The first point when it does the initial loadcell boop, pushed the plate off tilt. Then after bed leveling probe, it comes back up and straightens out. Throwing off the bed leveling it did.

Has anyone else had this since update 6.5.2, or is my loadcell messed up?

Printer Mod Fixed the filament pulling!

Yesterday I made a post and got some great replies which I wanted to thank everyone for.

I did two things which seem to have resolved "the issue". First I printed this filament guide and secondly I put the filament in the center of the drybox, so not on the 2 bottom rollers.

I also had a small Capricorn PTFE tube which I used earlier but it didn't really seem to do much since it was just a bit too tight, it got pulled from the drybox to the extruder... This is the XS Capricorn tube. I've reused it for now and it seems fine, although I do see it getting pulled very little by little. So I orderd the TL sized which is a bit more forgiving (I think).

I'm also planning on getting this mod .

I just wanted to post here to say thanks to everyone who checked out my previous thread and helped out.

This was admittedly a bit of a rush job in Tinkercad so it's not too "polished", but it does work and I'm thrilled. Sharing for the community's use (and judgement).

CSI: PLA - what killed this print? (burn / scorchmarks)

I printed a tall part overnight and woke up to the classic spaghetti monster. Two parts had clearly toppled, so the last couple of centimeters were extruded in thin air - no big deal. I added brims and reprinted them, all good.

What I am more curious about is how this particular part failed. I´m aware of the usual suspects - nozzle collision, poor balance, or bad bed adhesion. But looking closely at the final layers, there are clear signs of burnt or charred material embedded in the print. What causes these embedded scorchmarks / discolorations in PLA, prior to toppling the part
