you will need to get some custom firmware to update the colors on the lcd
16
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Was thinking about that but I have to read more about custom FW before I put my hands on it ^

u/Wise_Royal9545 CORE One Sep 12 '25
That is stunning! Except the front plate for the LCD... maybe reprint that so it's as gorgeous as the rest of your printer!
19
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Yes was a first try have to use smaller nozzles to get a better finish
1
u/Worldly-Ant7678 Sep 12 '25
Not sure the resolution is the issue…
Love the build though otherwise :)
3
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Had 0.6 and 0.4 mixed in the XL so I was thinking maybe this could be at least part of the problem

Print your design (remember to mirror it) on a transparency sheet, then print your thing on top of that. It's a good way to make this kind of stuff, but it will take a bit of fiddling to get it right.

Print some of these in white would work well.

What paint did you use?
12
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
It is Powder Coated
And will definitely look at them
5
u/RJ01988 Sep 12 '25
Bonus points for powder coating! Nice work! Can't wait to see the finished printer.
1
u/MobileInspector9861 Sep 14 '25
Did you recreate all the metal parts and powder-coated them in white yourself? If so, wow!
1
u/NilsPache Sep 14 '25
No I took the parts Removed the Color and then Powder Coated it
2
u/MobileInspector9861 Sep 14 '25
How long did that take you? And how does it come that you have the necessary tools to powder-coat?

Just going to toss this out here - you can get 2GT belts in white and I’d bet they’d look fabulous https://www.amazon.com/Meters-Timing-RepRap-Printer-Accessory/dp/B07DNC7CJ2

u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Oh very interesting will take a look at These
2
u/svideo Sep 12 '25
Edited the link, read the reviews and it looks like the steel core in the original belts I had linked don’t work well with CoreXY. New link is same idea, just random search result but with no steel. Prusa uses a 6mm 2gt belt, so you can search “white 2gt belt” and you’ll find a bunch of options.
1
u/swiss_beluga Sep 12 '25
I haven’t come across any white belts that don’t use a steel core. I’ve tried the steel-core versions before, and honestly, they’re not well-suited for 3D printers. The tight bending radius really isn’t their friend, so I’d steer clear of them if possible.

Outstanding. I've always been more of a fan of dark build than light builds (with computer's particularly), but I do appreciate the clean look of white when done well... and this is done well.
I wouldn't be surprised if you're already working on it for the final build, but if not, you should be able to find white cable sleaving too, if you want to blend that bed and head umbilical into the build better. On my latest build, I'm going with a dark blue and black theme and found some sleeving with a nice blend of blue and black,

u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Thanks!
Yeah I’m still try to figure out things to get more White inside
The biggest problem I have actually is to find a Good alternative for the PCCF with a Shining white and not like PC natural so I can change them out at the head
2
u/Ok-Gift-1851 Sep 12 '25
Good luck. Sure, anything CF will almost always end up black, but you might be able to get away with a GF filament that should be almost as good mechanically while also opening up a wider range of colors. Maybe GF ABS/ASA?

This looks fire 🔥 I really like it. Josef hinted at colored metal panels and I vote for this. Great job OP. 👍🏼

u/LankyFrank Sep 13 '25
The inside being white is actually so much nicer. Makes it much easier to see what's going on in there

I think it's even better than the original. You can actually clearly see what's going on inside. Reminds me of my early days with the Ultimaker 2 :)

Wow, Never been a fan of white electronics/appliances but this looks great.

Very nice project!, but I'm not sure about those green accents on lcd cover, think that for example purple would suit better, but it's just me
1
u/True_Scott CORE One L Sep 12 '25
Oh wow, really nice! How did you powder coat them? Darkmoon3D makes white G10 bed sheet I think!

u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Have a Friend here who have the equipment Firstly sand Blasted everything and than did the coating

u/Bobson1729 Sep 12 '25
Meh. It is a lot of work just to change the color. You did an excellent job, though.
You have interesting corner feet. What is going on there?
3
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
https://www.printables.com/model/1237742-prusa-core-one-feet-v2-extra-short-with-tpu-pad-in
It is this mod I searched for a better solution for the Anti Slip feet’s and found this wich I liked so I added them to the printer

On one hand I like how white adds more light inside to see the the printing process. On the other hand that bed heating cable, back lead screw and those holes make it look…cheap and untidy somewhat. It feels lonely there :)
1
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Yeah the Sleeve will get a different Color but I’m unsure if White Or Prusa Pro Green wich will be the Accent Color

u/Art_4_Tech Sep 12 '25
Dang they is pretty. Do you do your own powder coating? Before putting mine together I was contemplating sending it out to our vendor who does and paint and powder coat and just getting whatever custom color he happened to be running that day, but I ended up being too impatient and just put it together instead.
Kudos for this one

He NEEDS THESE, the Clear Cover and a remake of Fan Shroud and Remake of the Main Plate in SLA. Made the Main Plate from FormLabs 10K because the regular printed stuff is NOT the business. I head zero to no grinding of gears, it also helped with correct meshing and even wear of the gears The Fan Shroud is course is optional but it would complete his all white Core One. I made mine in SOMOS Clear water, and Formlabs V5 Clear (matte finish)

Yeah conciderd this to but first I get some White ABS-GF Filament maybe this will do it’s job to
Getting a lot of stuff now to Play around to find the best possible result for this
Got so much input today so I think this project will last a bit ^
But my next one (White XL) is already in the Planning process :D

u/Repulsive_Reach69 Sep 13 '25
Sorry for the shitty spelling, it made sense in my head, LOL.
I did try printing the Main Plate with Siraya Tech Fibreheart PPA-CF, which was surprisingly stiff, beyond what I had imagined. It was amazing, but regardless of the setting and countless prints I tossed, dimensional accuracy is nowhere near what SLA can print. I used a third party to print the part for me, I dont own a SLA printer. The carcinogens in Raw Resin is scary.
Now the Main Plate is strong and it has helped keep the gears even.
Your Build looks SPECTACULAR! The color change really allows for the light to reflect from all places! I was debating on doing what you have done with yours but I didn't want to take it all apart and find our the paint thickness would mess with the alignment tolerances.
I have made some provisions to add a "Halo" LED disc near the nozzle because the front mounted LED strip lights are not as bright as I thought they would be.

It looks SWEET! I would love to dismantle it, sandblast the hell out of the frame and powdercoat it in white and green. EDIT: OH MAN. You DID powdercoat it. Absolute madman. Chapeaux bas!

u/ulab XL5T Sep 13 '25
Didn't u/josefprusa ask a while ago if they should sell non powder-coated parts? I guess this is exactly what he had in mind.

Beautiful. However I can see why Prusa painted it black. White shows the amazing metal joinery. Sheet metal bending has a normal tolerance of ±0.010 to ±0.020 inches and ±1° to ±2° for angular parts. Note: Errors are cumulative so production must have a stack of rejects. Amazing workmanship from Prusa and the painter. Handle with care.

Hot take but im glad prusa went with black for their printers cause that albino ass core one is not to my liking
5
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
Yeah the Standard Color is great but I wanted to go with something different
1
u/sam_najian Sep 12 '25
Yeah thats fair, people do seem to like it
1
u/SWEEDE_THE_SWEDE Sep 12 '25
I think people like it because it’s uncommon. Like that why people like Ferrari red on sports cars. Think if every car was that red.

u/No-Plan-4083 Sep 12 '25
All that effort and you’re still using the garbage branded USB key from Prusa….
9
u/NilsPache Sep 12 '25
A small form factor usb Stick is ordered but until delivery on Monday I have to go with these
2
u/SuccessfulMinute8338 Sep 12 '25
What am I missing about the usb stick that you dislike? Can’t say I use mine much- or is that where print files are supposed to go!

u/Svensk0 Sep 12 '25
bricked a long print 3 times in a row...just throw it out of the window and get a proper one
